I usually just read and do not post, but after watching that poorly made documentary I had to say something. This documentary had the potential to be one of the most interesting in the history of metal, had they did it properly. And No Max Norman, are you kidding me? Im sure he would have had great memories of those days with lots of interesting stories and hes left out probably becuz Sharon didnt want to pay for him, that might put a small dent in her excessive shopping habit on Rodeo Drive! And blacking out Brad Gillis was the last straw! That was utterly rediculous of Sharon to do!!! What the hell is wrong with Sharon Osbourne!!!!! Ive corresponded with Brad a few years ago, and hes one of the coolest people Ive ever talked with and he even sent me a big color photo of him and Ozzy from the Diary tour. He did want to spread the word that Ozzy had nothing to do with his sound for the tour, as some of you who are old enough to remember, Ozzy gave an interview back in 1982 where he stated that he sat with Brad as Brad adjusted different tones on his amp to get close as he could to Randy's tone, and Ozzy said that he was the one that told Brad, thats it, thats the tone I want you to use. Thats just not true, it never happened.
The most interesting thing to me with the documentary was listening to the master tapes, and I could have cared less like the rest of you of what Rob Halford and all the others had to say. And I might get in trouble here for saying this, but I wasnt all that impressed with the video footage they showed, it was of very poor quality and really Randy wasnt all that clear in the video when he did pop into a shot, the audio was horribel, but I guess from reading other post that the bonus footage has had a audio make over.
Well sorry about sounding like a downer. I did order the box set and Im actually looking forward to it and the vinyl thats coming with it, as I still love listening to records, to my ears there is more warmth to an album and they just sound better than CDs. But also interested in hearing the CDs as well. Well lets hope that one day Bob, Lee and Max will put out their own memories of those years with Randy, I bet it would be much more interesting and longer too.
Well said!!! This could have been incredible, but sadly, it wasn't meant to be. I'd give it a 3/10 at best.
You know what says it all in a nutshell? As soon as the documentary ends and the 1st thing you see is "Sharon Osbourne - executive producer". 'Nuff said.
Although any footage of Randy is nice, i'll be honest.....it's very unimpressive. At this point, i think we should be glad we have the After Hours show available (imagine if that didn't exist....). I'm SOOOOO glad i didn't plunk down 150 bucks for this. I will pick up the 2 remasters next week though, i want that live CD.
I'm actually looking forward most to Bob Daisley's forthcoming book.
