OK Kelly, I'm not trying to bust your balls, but this was EXACTLY my point to Romeorose when he wanted me to copy that DVD you made for those who helped you out, as a thank you! Although most didn't do it expecting anything, we did have a lot of respect for it, and felt that handing out cheapened the meaning behind it, much like your statement above. You stated that no thing should be withheld from true RR fans, but in a way, isn't this doing the same thing, even if the intentions are honorable? Not critising, just playing devil's advocate, because the entire area 51 debacle at tk, started out in a similar vein, and was not meant to be a divisor, but a thankyou of sorts, since at the time, webhosting and more specifically, bandwidth, was very, very expensive(most people either forget about this, or were not around to realize it), and the files would have cost a fortune to have them available for just anyone to download. Do not get me wrong! I want you to share more stuff, and I think it's great you are making the effort.

Regardless of how the subscription thing works out, I hope one way or another, your charity idea is a smashing success, and that more RR material will continue to surface 8) .

*edit*just saw the subscription price was lowered. I think that's a good thing, and will probably further help your cause. I hope sometime in the not so distant future, I can help as well.

Have you also considered taking donations of actual equipment, new or used? I'm pretty sure with all the musicians that will likely be viewing the forum, there will be some good equipment that could be donated. Not sure how that would work out, non-profit, tax wise, but it's a thought.

Agree with cableguyxx with my own take. A fee is a fee. In this case, it's a forced donation. I'm sure it's a good cause but there are many good causes these days. Many of those good causes are in fact individuals just trying to get by in this very rough economy. I'm also aware of a similar instance of this when Dogfall split from Peter and there was some talk of Peter setting up a fee-based website where fans could get to outtakes and other stuff that didn't make it into the film. I remember feeling like all of these people who were interviewing and from whom he was getting pics from, etc. were being mined and fans were being sized up for a profit.

I've generally been behind most of Kelly's input on the various dramas that have arisen on these boards for the past couple of years so I'll hold some faith that this will indeed be something good. But the thing I've always loved about the Randy Rhoads legend, the thing that's kept me even paying attention 25 years on, is the simple and honorable way his memory and his fans have been treated by his family, especially his mother. It's made the Cinderella story that was his quick rise to fame endearing and real. I've been soured by the attitude Peter injected into the community around the film (arrogance, exclusivity) and was glad to see some of this get called out recently, including by Kelly. Frankly, I don't want to see the movie get made if it's going to cheapen this whole thing.

I suspect this will not take off simply because the existing boards work because they're free and people can come and go as they please. I do think that Kelly could be incredibly successful helping to get folks to donate of their own free will and would probably raise more money in that way. People like him and I do, too.

I see everyone's points/critisisiums. And I am adjusting things accordingly. First off by lowering the price. I got hit with a $120 bill today for domain and hosting. Luckily, the site made enough to cover it. (thank you to those who contributed) I do not take anything on here said about me personally. I take as suggestions to make this site be a great alternative to the other sites when you're in the mood for something different. While many would view things that have been said as an attack, I see the comments as suggestions to make the site better for all. I intend to be very proactive on the site and always available to answer any questions you may have. The process to get certified as a non profit company is a nightmare but I will get through it. Once I have the paper work done it will be posted so all can see. Thanks to all those to participated in the live chat. I never did one of those and it was really fun, I intend to do that alot more often.

It was nice of Kelly to put a banner ad UR on his site!

I talk to the admin this www.randyrhoads.us was created for the film site but has found it\'s way into Kelly\'s domain. Everything is full circle~

That is great about the banner ad! :)
Anyway I was won one of the people who won a Gold (year) free membership by uploading some photos, posting, and starting a poll etc.
Anyone who joined got an email for this contest. You get points for your interaction on the site...so I set up a page reached 100 points in about an hour and got luck of the draw. I look forward to seeing how the site does. It's so different from Ultimate, TK, and Facebook, I can tell you it's not going to take away members from any of the boards. It's a whole different thing in terms of how members interact and it's got things like chat. Nothing beats the expertise at all the boards if anything Randy Rhoads us needs all of the boards IMO to survive. Information here and at TK is unsurpassed!

So a screenname cannot contain a SPACE because of security? That's new to me.....
Send me the code (the username test only) and I will see if I can fix it for you! (for free! )

RRNETWORK - please delete my account over there. I can't afford to pay for this right now and without doing so, I can't get on to anything over there. Thank you. I'm signed up as big_p over there as well.

I really wonder about that 'reason' now.... (because honestly I can't think of any)
But, if you feel more comfortable about keeping that 'reason' secret, no problem! :)
