Any Y&T fans?

Post by Trigger »

I love this band, I know they are a little dated but they had the most amazing drummer in the world. I think Leonard Haze would have been the only drummer other than Tommy Aldridge that could have made the 1981 tour as amazing as it was.
So as I said any Y&T fans out there?

HI Ian,
Yeah im a fan of them i seen them for the first time supporting AC/DC back in 1982 they went down really well. They followed up that with a headlining tour with Rock Goddess in support. But a funny thing happened my brother plays the drums in a band called Avenger and they managed to get the support slot last year when they toured the UK.I have got a pair of Leonard Haze's drumsticks they are like telegraph poles he can knock out a canny beat.My brother bought Dave Meniketti a Newcastle United shirt and he has a cool photo with him wearing it.They were all a good bunch of lads nice people.

I would go as far as saying Leonard Haze is a better drummer than Tommy for 1 reason! he plays with one bass drum and a single pedal and FUCK is he fast!!! also he plays with style and grace.
I first saw him on the tour GI mentioned in 1983 with Rock Godess as support and they did an autograph session the afternoon of the show. They were such nice blokes and Leonard was such a humble bloke and seemed unaware of just how special he was!...... doesn't that sound like Randy!
I stopped listening to them after the 'Down for the count album' (1985 I think) and leonard Haze left them soon after, As I understand it Leonard re-joined them a couple of years ago.

I have beento about 400 gigs over the years and the 1983 Y&T show was one of the best, I don't know if GI will agree but they were so much fun to watch and they really rocked! I think they wrote some of the besyt tunes of the 80's and I think Ozzy asked Meneketi to replace Randy but Meneketi was touring at the time and had to turn him down.

Dutch, Eathshaker is an amazing album I think they wrote someof the best rock ballads ever.

GI, did you go and see Y&T while your btothers band were supporting them?

Hi Ian, I've followed me bro's band for a lot of years but my job would of been in jeopardy if i'd had the time off.But the lads had a cool time and enjoyed every minute and the gigs got better into the tour,i was very tempted to go to the Nottingham Rock City gig as i was pissed and very tempted to jump on the next train. But it was a weird thing to happen being a fan and then my brothers band being on the same line up.I just wish i'd been on the dole at the time cos i know i would of had a blast ....The sad thing was when Y&T played in Newcastle Avenger weren't on the bill as Twisted Sister and some other bands done a
HM ball type thing and they had the bands booked for that show.

Classic Y&T

Post by RR-ElectricAngel »

Y&T were one of my favorites growing up. I saw them recently in San Antonio. I don't see too many videos out there on these guys but here is one classic video I've always loved...
