Savage Grace

Post by Paul Wolfe »

A few years ago Kelly Garni told me about a band he and Randy really liked called Savage Grace. One of the reasons they wanted to go to their first Alice Cooper show was because Savage Grace were to open (but didn't and the boys discovered Black Oak Arkansas)...

Anyway, Kelly said the really liked the song Lady of the Mountain and would jam to that song. I happened to find CD copies of both Savage Grace records for Kelly and, while going through way too many discs of computer stuff, I found Lady of the Mountain to share with you all...

I just need some help with uploading (I got the message that the maximum file size was reached)... it's a 4.3 MB mp3

Thank to Matt, I can finally share this song with you all.

Those of you who knew Randy, I'd especially like your comments on this song.

From what Kelly told me, he and Randy loved that song when it came on the radio. Savage Grace was scheduled to open for Alice Cooper and they were stoked. When the got to the show, they were very bummed that Savage Grace had been replaced on the bill by Black Oak Arkansas. So much so that they wanted to not lik BOA, but they ended up really enjoying them. As a result of that show they started dressing like Black Oak... a few years down the road, Black Oak Arkansas played L.A. with Quiet Riot as the opening act. As I recall, Kelly said that Tommy Aldridge was drumming for BOA at that point. It's funny how the connections work as you piece the history together.

I believe Kelly told the Savage Grace story in the documentary. We'll have to see if it makes the final cut.
