Drummers

Post by rice_pudding »

(i dont think theres been a thread like this before)

ok, guitar players get talked about a lot round here but drummers seem to get left out. So who are your favourite drummers (pick as many as you like - but dont be silly :wink: )

i was originaly gonna have a best drummers thread but that would be daft as theres no exact science to that.

here are mine;
1. Ginger Baker;
i think this guys a genius often when listening to cream most of my interest is on the drums despite the talents of Jack Bruce and Erci Clapton.
2. Randy Castillo;
I just like his style, hes got something i like, dont know quite what it is but hes got it. Just a shame hes no longer with us...
3. Lee Kerslake;
His work on Blizzard and Diary smokes!

I'd say my favorite drummers are

Matt Cameron (Soundgarden)
Neil Peart (Rush)
Scott Rockenfield (Queensryche)
Artemus Pyle (Lynyrd Skynyrd)

Neal Peart is unbelievable. I saw my one and only RUSH show from 9th row center, and he completely upstaged Geddy and Alex, at least for me.

Seen them 5 times, and each time is better than the previous.
Wish they would come here, but the closest is Houston. Maybe I can get a roadtrip going. Dunno if Mike would like that, tho. I'd REALLY have to bargin for this.
Anyway, there is a HP magazine out that has the top 100 bassists and drummers, 100 top guitarists and 100 vocalists. I really don't know why the combined the bassists with the drummers, but its a good read.
