Download Festival
Anyone else go to Download at Donington Park? Fantastic weekend. We set off early Friday morning, got there for lunch time, about an hour later our tents were pitched and we were on the piss. Good laugh hanging around the campsite drinking beer and meeting up with some old friends. Personal fave bands were Velvet Revolver, Stone Sour, Evernescence, Dream Theatre and of course Iron Maiden. Suprise highlight was My Chemicl Romance, not really my sort of thing but enjoyed them. Fave set of the weekend had to be Motley Crue, they played in the large tent (Dimebag Darrell Stage) and were unbelievable, great set-list and really entertaining, great atmosphere. Overall great weekend, but too much sun, too much beer and too lttle sleep. My wife says I'm getting too old for all this festival bollocks, but no way, I love it, roll on next time.

Yeah, I'll be all in black wearing a floppy black fringe next (I wish) and looking all miserable, no honestly I thought they were pretty good, I wasn't expecting much so I was pleasantly suprised. Dream Theatre was another suprise, my mate was well into them and I just checked 'em out for curiosity and they were great, well impressed. As for the Mrs, well she used to say I was too old for metal when I first met her 10 years ago so she's always talked out her arse. The photo's, do you mean the Ozzy ones when I met him, shit, sorry mate I forgot all about 'em, I 'll get 'em sorted for ya.
A few of my friends went to download. I didn't because the timings would mean i had to miss two extremely important days at college (fancy it be those dates), although i was invited.
i heard the majority of bands were fantastic, such as Megadeth, Slayer, Iron Maiden, the list goes on. I'm not a fan of My Chemical Romance, they are far too mainstream

Skezza, your mates were right, most of the bands were great. I'm pissed off with myself for missing Megadeth though, they played earlier than I thought on Friday afternoon and we were still in the campsite downing the ale so I was gutted when I heard the distant sound of Symphony of Destruction riffing away, oh well, nevermind. Slayer were good also, a bit too noisy for me to be honest but their thrash metal legends and are always good live, although i think they are more suited to a dark indoor venue than a sunny afternoon outdoor gig. I just wish Ozzy or Heaven and Hell would have played there as there both doing the European Festival circuit rigfht now. Everyone I spoke too had a great time, with the amount of bands playing over the weekend there was definatley something for everyone.
