He got some nice sounds there, still I miss some of the pure bite he had with his superlead in the late seventies.
Ed has suffered from cancer and lost unfortunately some of his tongue, this is the way he speaks now. He is not drunk there.

He may not have the speed or chops of Vai or Gilbert, but, damn, he has feeling in his playing. That clip from NAMM shows a LOT of emotion in what he plays and he's simply trying to show what his guitar can do.
