So I decided to contact the owner of RandyRhoads.com and ask if he would consider the transfer of the domain for a price of course.
50 grand. There goes that idea.

50 grand? Jeez it's not like he's doing anything with it.

Nice idea, genuine shame about the price though. It's way too high. If it was less, it could be worth crowd funding (back in 2008, we would have raised that in no time), but $50,000, in a time when interest in RR is probably at an all time low? We would never get close. Randy-rhoads.com was let go by Matt from TK (for reasons only known to him) and now advertises get rich quick scams.
I also inquired a few years and was told to make an offer far in excess of the quote you were given. I decided not to mention it on here as I just didn't think it was worth it. Nonetheless, it would have been nice to open some sort of proper Randy Rhoads website not reliant on a forum.

Such a waste of a domain. If interest is at an all time low as mentioned, that is so sad. Blizzard and Diary are such amazing albums. The younger generation is really missing out if they don't know about those albums. However, what doesn't help is that Sony/Legacy did a crappy job of remastering them by brickwalling them on CD and even on the high res (what's the point of hi res when the sound file is terrible) so the current versions don't sound good and are missing a lot of the magic.
Jack - are you listening? Maybe you can do something about that. Those two albums need to be remastered properly so they can shine again like the original vinyl did or better.
If Sony/Legacy put the care into those albums like they do Miles Davis' Kind Of Blue album, we would hear some completely amazing results and more people hearing it for the first time would be blown away. Instead, someone at Legacy likes to sticker Ozzy remasters as "Bigger, badder and Louder!" and doesn't realize that's what a volume slider or knob is for. Master it with the proper dynamics, then crank it up on playback, not during mastering where it's clipped, limited and compressed to hell and back.

I've not heard the remasters but yeah, brick walling is a real problem on modern disks. A lot of the original dynamics are lost when you brick wall music.

Several attempts to relauch, but lost the google street cred it had accrued so it never really came back with the same fervor it had before. I currently have it up at randyrhoads.info, but I haven't updated it in ages.

Going through brings back memories, although I seem to remember you had a different theme back when it was in its heyday? The Bootleg Encyclopedia was a massively useful tool and still is These things happen. I know I've been guilty of letting this domain lapse at least once, but was luckily within the 30 day grace period you have to save it. Since then I've had a reminder pop up when it's close to renewal. I think TK has now lapsed as well. When I do visit, I have to search it in google. I've mentioned on here before, I think Facebook has taken a huge toll on these websites, but the legacy of Randy Rhoads has been so utterly horribly mishandled that kids are less and less interested in him. I suppose who can blame them?
