I'm a really big fan of Jake, but the Eddie Van Halen comparison is just way off. Jake speaks two or three languages Eddie speaks 10.
I think as Ozzy fans we are all slightly biast in favour of Jake. To me, Jake is fantastic, and probably is as fast, if not faster, than Eddie Van Halen. However, for popularity, and impact on the guitar community, Van Halen is up there with Hendrix, Townshend, Clapton, anyone like that, whereas Jake, never really set out to do that.

There is no comparison with Eddie. There is with Randy and Zakk. Fact is, Randy in my opinion was the best of the guitarists with Ozzy, period, now we have to look at the others. I think if i had to choose a next guitarist it would have to be Jake E Lee. Rather than almost playing Randy note for note, but adding the odd pinched harmonic, Jake made his own individual solo's and i have a huge respect for Jake and i have to rank him above Zakk. For me, Zakk just doesnt cut it, all the antics and stuff. Randy, Jake and Brad were all pretty unlively on stage, they just did the business, whereas Zakk likes to make a seen, spit beer in the air and throw his guitar round his kneck all that shit... and tbh, thats bad, because it means he ISNT concentrating on the music, which for me doesnt cut it. Its hard to say but i have to rate Brad Gillis above Zakk as well. He just does not cut it at all for me. Sorry

Randy
Jake
Brad
For Covering Randy, possibly Joe
Zakk

He plays most things flawlessly, AND puts on a good show at the same time. How is that bad? If what you are saying is that Zakk doesn't take the music seriously, then you know nothing about him. Besides, if you want it to sound like the record, please stay at home.

This whole video speaks for itself.

Thank you.
Hey man, lay off a bit, we all have the right to an opinion and you dont have to agree but you dont have to be rude. Freedom of Speech? Right. First of all, what does that video prove? Nothing in my opinion. Ive just watched it, all the way through and Zakk perhaps didnt do all his antics of today (it was 1989) but he still did a pinched harmonic at the every point and all his other favourite tricks, but he sounded nowhere near as full as Jake or as clever. I think Flying is right with what he says about Zakks antics. To be honest, they are more suited in BLS than Ozzy, especially covering Randy's songs :)

I didn't mean to come off rude. Just stating my opinion. Who are we to say that these so called "antics", as you put it, doesn't suite Ozzy? Zakk has been with Ozzy on and off for almost 20 years. I think it's a fact that it suites him pretty well!

What I meant to say with that video is that his playing doesn't suffer from going crazy on stage.
Hey Meh,
it depends how you look at it. In my opinion, Zakks playing does suffer, slightly, when he does those stage acts, because he cant fully concentrate and we know that he can pull off a great performance, and yet, i dont feel he gives quite what could be given. Ive heard a few shows of him from 1988 and 1989 (bootleg) where ive almost fallen off my seat and said, wow, thats zakk wylde, why isnt he more like that now. I dont know why, but i feel perhaps he has deteriorated over time, i could be wrong, hopefully the new album will. My loyalty is firmly with Randy and Jake, but then again, i was never a fan of Brad until i really tried listening and then i realized, he really is a good player. So hopefully zakk will impress me this time round, as he did in those 88 89 shows. :)

I think that Zakk differs from Jake or Randy, to me he's more "heavy", you can see that in his work with Black Label Society.
