the most recent song I learnt is The Trooper by Iron Maiden. Very cool but the gallops are pretty annoying, especially when you can do them one day perfect then keep mucking them up the next.

A Song A Day

Post by RR-ElectricAngel »

It's always hard to keep track of what song I am learning since I am easily distracted. Since I began working on this concept album for Randy's 25th anniversary I have been studying a lot of Randy's material. His private guitar lessons give me some insight into how he taught and how he viewed the fretboard. Recently I was working on Crazy Train and Diary of a Madman. So much to learn and so little time...

I talked to Rudy Sarzo the other day and he said the 2 Quiet Riot songs he enjoyed playing the most with Randy were Slick Black Cadillac and Killer Girls, so I thought I'd learn those.

If anyone has a tab of the Killer Girls solo, that'd save me a lot of time, hint hint

After listening to an .mp3 of one of Randy's lessons, I cut out a jam from the file, looped it and started trying different improv ideas over it... it's like playing with Randy, or at least as close as I can get... if I come up with something good I'll try to post it...

Last night I decided to figure out Road Racin' by RIOT from the Narita album.

I have thought about learning it off and on since I first heard it in 1980, so I sat down and gave it a shot last night and 15 minutes later I had it down.

I should have done this years ago.
