Randy fired Bob Daisley & Lee Kerslake ??
I've just getting a Guitar magazine from 2002 and it says that aswell as Ozzy firing Bob and Lee, Randy had a part to play in this aswell.I have to take this with a pinch of salt as Ozzy was going through the court's with Bob and Lee at the time, over the non paid royalties etc on the Blizzard and Diary albums. But Ozzy claims that Randy had a role in the decision to fire both of them."Randy never liked Lee Kerslake," Ozzy states "And Bob was always intimidating him.And i can remember that Randy's mum came to him and said,"What the fuck are you playing with those fucking idiots for ?' I was sitting next to Randy's mum at the time. And she said, 'What's wrong with you, Randy ?' Then Randy said, 'I think I'm gonna leave the band.' I asked him why.We had a chat one day and he said, 'The band is just a lot of geeks. You drink too much.' I said,'Well, that's just me.But what do you mean "a band of geeks"?' And he said, 'Look, how are we gonna conquer America with that fucking lot ?' "
Rhoads suggested his old Quiet Riot pal Rudy Sarzo as a replacement for Daisley. And Tommy Aldridge was a drummer that Ozzy had known and admired for years.
I find this very hard to believe as the main writing nucleus was Rhoads and Daisley. If it wasn't for Bob Daisley writing Ozzy's lyrics the albums would of never been finished in time.I know that its Ozzy talking but i find it hard that Delores would come out with such a tale. She would of wanted the best for her son to make it in the music business by pushing him on, not discouraging him.Plus from what i've read about Bob's relationship with Randy they got on well with each other.Does anybody have anything else to add to this ??

i'm looking at that article right now. i don't believe it for a minute. never mind that that does'n't sound at all like delores, i've read elsewhere about sharon describing bob and lee as "orrible old c*nts" and "bearded geezers". it seems to me that sharon and ozzy were obsessed with looks and these two didn't fit the bill. that makes the most sense to me. randy wasn't obsessed with looks that way, believe me.

Hi Frank,
So do you recking that Randy would of rather of kept Bob and Lee in the band?? I know that Ozzy has realised over the years how much of an asset Bob has been to him in writing some cool LP's including No More Tears. But his flavour has soured over the court proceedings and i couldn't see Bob helping him out at all these days.I know that Rudy was his pal but he wasn't mentioned until they had been fired.Did you ever hear anything to suggest him not liking Lee Kerslake as Ozzy mentioned or Bob being intimidating.

I've read those statemens in a number of articles. It's the Ozzy camp's way of doctoring things up in case any of the courts read guitar mags...
I agree that the main reason Bob and Lee were let go had something to do with appearence. Ozzy was smitten with the way Van Halen came across on his last Sabbath tour. That's why he was looking in L.A. for a guitar player - find another Eddie V. They also knew that the music was being taen over by the yougsters on the Strip and wanted to be viable.
IF Randy or Delores expressed negative thoughts about Bob and Lee, it was likely based on some sort of behaviour at that moment. Like they argued with Ozzy or Sharon within earshot of Randy and his mom and they commented on the guys in that context. I think Ozzy blurs a lot of events together and confuses the issue with a poor memory.
The other reason Bob and Lee were let go, in my opinion, is because they insisted that they were in a band called Blizzard of Ozz and not just Ozzy's backing band. As such, they wanted a democracy and didn't get it. I'm sure there were times when Randy did think he'd like to leave because Ozzy drank too much and Bob and Lee were always complaining about their situation. Any normal person would want to bail on such a situation...

no g.i., i'm only speculating. it seems to be well known that randy was disenchanted with things at the end. i'm guessing some of it had to do with the way ozzy and sharon ran their business. and yes rocky, the original band name was blizzard of ozz...i remember randy telling me so (with a not-so-concealed smirk which let me know what he thought of that) i was somewhat confused at the time when that became the album name only.
hah! found it. here we go, to bolster my theory: sharon describes bob daisley and lee kerslake as "two 'orrible old c*nts with their f*cking beards, always moaning." and a few sentences later ""rudy proved very easy to work with, he was a fabulous musician, and he looked [/i]great."

According Kelly Garni he was very isolated and wasn't close with anyone in the band.
Keep in mind that Randy (according Kevin) didn't like conflicts. So there maybe could be some issues while others didn't know about it.
But I do believe that Randy wasn't very happy with Bob and Lee leaving because they had such a good chemistry. (at least musically) He called Bob after they were fired, assuming true the relation couldn't be that bad either.
I think Ozzy was just talking crap there, keep in mind the issues they have with Bob and Lee. Ozzy once said too that Randy really hated Kevin Dubrow. But according Kelly Garni Kevin was still Randy's best friend while being in Ozzy.

Subjects I choose to leave alone. It was so long ago, and memories fade. Bob, Lee, Ozzy, and Sharon are always going to be pissed off at each other, so naturally, they will be talking a load of shit. We will never know the truth. I would much rather hear the music, watch the videos, and hear the fond memories than hear the bickering and the defamation of character. It makes life more enjoyable.

Actually, the subjrct has been around and discussed in depth for a while now. Rhoadsless was simply stating that he generally avoids these subjects because all we can do is speculate based on hearsay.GUITARIDOL5682 wrote:The whole point of this thread is that its new and its not a boring issue like Whats your favourite RR guitar.
Although, I gotta say it IS a much more interesting subject than "What's your favorite guitar of Randy's or which do you prefer, Diary or Blizzard?... That's why I posted about Rudy's book and the typos - a new topic to discuss.
Spoken like someone who did not grow up in the '80's. All you need is a Delorean, so radioactive matter to fuel it and a sophisticated computer to dial in the proper moment in time, and you could ask Randy himself ablut it, sheesh!therhoadlesstraveled wrote:We will never know the truth.
