Re: Randys Zeus Pedalboard.
The museum things was a quote. I really don't care who owns his practice pedal board. This isn't a debate, it's a opinionated what should happen? It's not based in reality or truth. There is no need for further discussion. I think you guys put it to bed. The benefit for Randy's tomb was a discussion and I found out a few new things. I'd rather discuss the pedal-board itself but as someone said, it's not that great of one. For the early eighties, yes absolutely. 2013, it's cool that randy owned it but so many other better options now.

Tragic.
And, for the record, how does one 'fail' at being a guitarist? I get the wannabe reference, but I'd say 99.9% of the people in history who've played guitar have never made a living at it and even fewer have gotten to the level where they are remembered for long.
Guitar playing is a hobby that some people take to a level of making a living. It should be done for fun and nothing else. If you are lucky and people will pay you to listen to you play, great. If you are playing to impress, you've lost the plot.
Yeah youre probably right, but you know imagine if you were famous then died prematurely and someone tried to sell your personal belongings back to your elderly mom.
Anyway ill shut it and leave now .Peace

It's regret, i think that really is the worst kind of pain, yeah guilt is bad, and sadness is bad, but regret is the sickly combination of both.

I would like to add that in that scenario, my 83-year-old mom would laugh and say, "Keep it."
I'm too lazy to read through this whole thread again, but I'd like to say that I remember this from the original blowup:
I always found it sad that the Rhoads family jumped into legal action and threats over something no one even knew existed. It would have been so much easier to just ignore it and walk away. It was a simple practice amp that Randy himself would have abandoned shortly had he lived, at which point no one would have ever cared about the damn thing.skezza wrote:I have received a statement from the family:
RE: Jody Kephart and Buyers of Zues 840 Amp on Ebay.
On behalf of the Rhoads Family, We would like to express our complete disgust and discontent with the seller as well as the buyer of such property.
I also would like to reiterate the fact that the Rhoads Family will hold anyone who attempts to sell or buy unlawfully taken property to the utmost ruling of the law according to 18 U.S.C. Section 2315 which reads:
Whoever receives, possesses, conceals, stores, barters, sells, or disposes of any goods, of the value of $5,000 or more, which have crossed a State or United States boundary after being stolen, unlawfully converted, or taken, knowing the same to have been stolen, unlawfully converted, or taken; Shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than ten years, or both.

Anyway, 'nuff said... what's the next topic?

Agreed. Between this and the Margolis documentary, there's been a whole lot of sabre rattling, not a lot of action of any kind, and a bunch of people with hurt feelings.Paul Wolfe wrote:Oh, I get your point, I really do.mojopin70 wrote: Yeah you're probably right, but you know imagine if you were famous then died prematurely and someone tried to sell your personal belongings back to your elderly mom.

Whatever. It will be what it will be, I suppose.
Re: Randys Zeus Pedalboard.
Damn you Mojo, my mom would totally try to buy it. She ain't got 10 G's but she doesn't have a music school or a famous son. I don't think it would even matter if I died at 25 or 35, she would want it. Affording it is another thing. However, it wasn't about a pedal board, it was about a guy who changed music. It always bothered me when the "they" would say, He was going to blend classical and really change music, as if he didn't. Yes, he could of accomplished so much more but he did things no one has duplicated or even came close to this day.

Re: Randys Zeus Pedalboard.
Really? Seems to me it's about the silly little practice amp. What Randy did to change music was done before he had that amp... Randy touched all kinds of things in his lifetime, so what? His Les Paul and his Polka-Dot V are the only equipment items that made any difference to the 'history of music'.hansolo wrote:However, it wasn't about a pedal board, it was about a guy who changed music.
Ever wonder who owns the SG Randy had prior to the Les Paul? He played that for years, so, based on the argument for the Zeus amp, it must be worth $20K.

Re: Randys Zeus Pedalboard.
The story I heard, for the record, is that Randy sold the SG to Stan Lee of the Dickies and that someone stole it from him... so somewhere there is a crummy little SG with a history...
I tried searching Google for a pic of Stan with that guitar and found this:

**Edit: I just heard from Ron Sobol who said he's got at least one shot of Stan Lee playing that SG in his Quiet Riot book.

Re: Randys Zeus Pedalboard.
By the way, I could swear that Randy is playing that SG in a picture of a Quiet Riot practice where Kevin is playing a clear Dan Armstrong guitar... anyone know which one I mean? I cannot seem to find it.

Re: Randys Zeus Pedalboard.
Shaun, thank you.
After a bit of drunken observation (Wild Turkey 101 whiskey)... I notice that the original shot I posted which is obviously a QR gig (hence the polka dots) has a different guitar than the 2nd and 3rd shots. The QR shot has no pickguard and block inlays on a stained brown body while the other two have a pickguard and dot inlays on a painted black body... I assume the QR gig featured a student's guitar he borrowed...?
