Ozzy paid for Randy's tomb
In an interview ozzy says that miss rhoads came to ozzy to show him the plains of Randy's tomb and the live and loud tour helped pay for the tomb
Here's the vid

If you have not noticed ozzy is extremly understandable in this interview he stayed that way till the late 90s

Re: Ozzy paid for Randy's tomb
There was a benefit thrown and the proceeds paid for it.
Ozzy was very messed up in the 90's on prescription drugs (Sharon probably had him overdosed) which gave him that constant stammering. I know in '92 when the did those California shows with Sabbath, I saw interviews and Ozzy was hard to understand. Ronnie refused to sing so Rob Halford sang for Sabbath.

There were parts I couldn't understand Ozzy but he does seem somewhat coherent here. Compare this to the afterhours int or the Texas sound check int of the 80's Ozzy. The worst interview was after the '92 Costa Mesa show with Ozzy after he did an Ozzy show and the mini Sabbath reunion (3 or 4 songs?). I suppose he could of been tired too.
That 1992 Long Beach show paid for the tomb.

Check out the end section of Symptom of the universe (see album version). It's the first time I've heard that played live.

Not sure if you guys are aware, but there were rumours that Oz had a stroke around this time, and it was hushed up. I believe Oz and crew sued whoever alleged this, but it WAS a persistent rumour.
Also, wasn't this benefit for Randy a flop, and the concert turned into a near-riot, with people destroying things? I remember hearing something about this and being disappointed.

It would make sense that he had a stroke in 1992. The after show interview footage of Ozzy at the Costa Mesa show was unaired MTV footage. I don't think they ever used it because he was so bad. I didn't know there were 2 benefit shows. Did they sell the Tribute tour books at these shows?

Well, that stroke rumour was squashed pretty quick by the O's camp, but I agree - it does make a lot of sense. Oz has never seemed the same since this time.hansolo wrote:It would make sense that he had a stroke in 1992. The after show interview footage of Ozzy at the Costa Mesa show was unaired MTV footage. Not sure if they sold tribute tour books or not. I'm not sure they would have, though. Very little Randy stuff seems to be released by the O's.

Re: Ozzy paid for Randy's tomb
being somebody who attended this gig it was originally supposed to be at Long Beach arena but for some reason it got moved to Irvine which was a pain in the ass to have to go there and exchange tickets and drive back home. The gig was solid with Ozzy bringing Mrs. Rhoads out as Zakk played "Dee" and they did "Goodbye ro Romance" with her and Ozzy holding hands....then came the end...they had switched it up so "Crazy Train" would be the last song so they play "Paranoid" and Ozzy asked for some help to sing the song and it was a tidal wave of people who charged the stage as they launched in...people were climbing speakers...swinging on cables that were hooked to the big screens and it was all coming apart...I'd say at least a hundred people were on stage...they actually finish "Paranoid" and then security tries to get everybody off stage and over the PA it's saying "please get off the stage theres 1 more song to do" so after about 10 minutes the pa comes back on "were sorry but the equipment has been destroyed, goodnite" "HOUSE LIGHTS"....no Crazy Train...the end....heard about a $100,000 of damage...so much for proceeds huh?

$100,000 ??? did the kids come on stage with semtex ? how could fans just being on stage cause so much damage ?. Did this get mentioned in the press at the time ?... did the place get smashed up, because the band didn't come back on stage ?...

Re: Ozzy paid for Randy's tomb
fans were climbing and pulling down rigging...screens...pushing over amps and cabinets...it adds up...once the house lights came on it was it was no big deal...we saw what had happened...not surprised in the least. Go google "ozzy march 28 1992 irvine meadows $100,000" you'll find something.
