Re: New hope for the 'Legacy'?
I entirely agree with you- no one can speak for Randy, only he knew what he wanted, and regardless of cliques, circles, rock stars and family- Randy was only 25 when he died, and I'm pretty sure he didn't know his time would expire so soon, or that he would have a dedicated following of fans.
If we all agreed all the time, this world would be a boring ass place- and normally I don't get into drama and shit, but I don't see what the harm is in expressing an opinion. I've done more than my fair share of defending the family on this board and others- but I didn't take what Idol said as an attack on the family by any means. But that's just me.

Re: New hope for the 'Legacy'?
That's the funny thing about wanting things in life, whether its taste in music, movies or what's most important in life, it keeps changing. All the guy had officially released with Ozzy was 2 studio albums, a B-side, 3 1980 live tracks (one isn't really live), a live release 'tribute' and 'Live" CD/LP's and a DVD. With QR it's really 'QR the RR years' CD/LP, The DVD of the same title by Ron Sobol, 2 Japanese only LP's and a 'Yes, Nukes compilation LP w/Slick black Cadillac but I forget if that is different than the studio (plus a CD release of SBC by Debrow- various bands).
I have done my fair share of bitching at the family, so to speak. The truth is if I were face to face, I don't know what I'd say but I would be more tactful and always polite than here. I doubt that would even happen but if it did I think I would concentrate of talking about Randy's music and how to further that and get more of it out there. I know of one guy (not me) who could make sense of it all, big Randy fan when he was growing up. He went to school and college for music. He could play or learn most players by the time he was 15. I heard it took him 2 weeks to get up to speed to play Yngwie when 'Rising force' came out. He used to teach, maybe still does. He's into jazz now. Not that any of that would happen but you gotta have some hope and dream a little.

I think everyone needs to read this :
I would just like to add, that if it wasnt for Shaun presenting me with Franks postcard from december 1979 on this site and some help from Bob D.- then its quite possible that the house Randy talks about ( where Blizzard and Diary were written)would never have been found- since no one in the present music industry or involved with the studio knew this. I mean its been 33 years and many people involved with the house or that worked there are no longer there or have passed away
i know Frank was happy to finally put a name to his postcard. It just so happens that i live in the area where the house is located and not only that luckily the house was SAVED from being turned into a swimming pool and plush country house ( IMAGINE THAT!)and kept as a studio because it was bought by an old friend and his sister in the music industry!
So Shaun is directly responsible for helping me locate the house.
I then spoke to Frank and told him the news and he was very happy to find out this info after 33 years!
I think they are both great guys and i hope that they can forgive and forget and be friends again
Also Ridge Farm where both albums were recorded is no longer a studio no longer houses any equipment and is a hotel.
However it is still possible to visit the house /studio in Randys postcard because the rooms have hardly changed since 1979 .And it is still a fully functioning studio with its great atmosphere.
There was NOTHING marking the writing history of both albums at the house at the time i found the place, but MANY other bands cover the walls of the studio with their faces and names.
BUT very SOON there will be a Blizzard era framed shot that will go up on the wall alongside all the other bands.
So Shaun and both Frank have helped further Randys memory in a very positive and progressive way?!

It's regret, i think that really is the worst kind of pain, yeah guilt is bad, and sadness is bad, but regret is the sickly combination of both.

Re: New hope for the 'Legacy'?
That is cool about the house and of course we appreciate the postcard, Frank put up, Thank you. Most people did thank him but it's true that you hear mostly complaints because few people walk around going, "Everything's great!" I don't know the guy but my impression was from the few posts I have seen is that and maybe it's the fans that hoist him up like he won the freakin' game or he IS the Randy connection to some just for knowing him and all other opinions are unnecessary. It comes off a little VIP, which I sort of understand. He's probably a really nice guy.
The info on the house is also great for us Rhoadies because we would probably be the only people interested in it. I'm not sure how well it will do if that is going to be their business. There are some Zeppelin places in England that would be cool to see as well. That said, I'm probably not going to visit there just because Ozzy/Randy slept there. Are there any picture that may authenticate the house that they were there? The email comes off a bit like an advertisement...

Err No. Its not an advertisement since my mate who is the current owner was worried about loads of Rhoads fans descending on the place when i told him .....
Ozzy/Randy didnt just sleep there, if you had bothered to read the post correctly it says they wrote Blizzard of Ozz and Diary of a Madman there during 1979 and 1981.
That said, I'm probably not going to visit there just because Ozzy/Randy slept there. Are there any picture that may authenticate the house that they were there?
NO picture as i said in the post, i am trying to do something about it by putting something up to mark the Blizzard of Ozz history which the current owners are more than happy to do.
Can i confirm they wrote both albums there ? authenticate this? Yes. Bob Daisley already did this some time ago- that and ive written about it in fact once again if you had bothered to read my post correctly its all there.
ANYWAY THE POINT was that Shaun and Frank have both done things to help keep alive Randys memory and i hope they can settle their differences ....
I dont know about the V.i.P thing....i guess if you had been taught by Rhoads and had his lessons recorded and personal memories and were his friend that is one thing. But its probably the way people react to Frank because hes one person whos come forward to say anything and share his memories.
I was actually trying to heal the rift here but you obviously didnt get it.....ill keep my thoughts to myself

There are some Zeppelin places in England that would be cool to see as well.
It just so happens that Robert Plant used the house also Zeppelin used the place... but Zeppelin also used Clearwell Castle....Just like Randy/Ozzy/Bob/Lee did when they did pre production there in early 1980.
Zeppelin were there in the middle of 1978 for 4 days a week writing . My mates dad who was a drummer took him to the Castle when he was very young , he said there was a parachute hanging from the ceiling and Zeppelins kit was set up but no one was around.
Robert Plant used to live in Penalt above Redbrook near to Monmouth and i saw him several times when i was younger on the River Wye watching the yearly raft race and i saw him in the local cinema.
And before you accuse me of advertising no im not just grew up here and im a musician and theres a lot of musical history including Rockfield Studios in this area.
Besides Clearwell Castle like Ridge Farm is now used for weddings and no longer for bands/recording/writing/pre production

I also said a while back that if your opinion was going to start a war you should keep it to up yourself
What I just said above is geared to everybody
I try to keep the peace the best I can but some times (half of the time) it does not always stay peacefully here
I mean no disrespect to any one
Sorry if it looks like I come off rude
If you think your opinion will start a war then you might not want to Share it BUT GUITARIDOLE I really don't know what happend between you and the others but I don't think you were actually looking for a fight I think you had some bad luck
Let me put my statement this way
Speak your mind as long as you don't think it will start a war
Re: New hope for the 'Legacy'?
whats the point of speaking your mind if its going to have a restriction?
Re: New hope for the 'Legacy'?
If you can't handle someones opinion then you should stay away from the internet, especially message boards

Re: New hope for the 'Legacy'?
Wow. Things get overblown fast. Hey, I'd love to go see England. Right now, things are tough and I really don't ever think I will make it. That is a saying, "so and so slept here." I does sound like you are involved and want to make a go of it. Great, but you WILL have to advertise. You said you saved it from being "turned into a swimming pool and plush country house." I was thinking it would be turned into a historical house but it sounds like you don't want people there??? Or is it like, "I have this Randy show but I can't share it, sorry." What is the intent of the house?
I said before I don't have anything against the Frank, he sounds cool. I really didn't know who the guy was/is. It seemed like in a few posts, fans wanted him to tell them what Randy would do in a certain situation. The rock star whole trip, man, it's a bummer. Like I said it's more the fans/members. I may have already told this but about 15 years ago a friend met a singer from a big 70's/80's band. The singer was from the area and there were always stories but when my friend went to hang out with him, someone took him aside and put some ground rules down. "So & so is a regular guy, so & so doesn't want to talk music unless he mentions it, etc." It's what happens when you turn your music into gold. Sharon "saved" Randy from that fate as well as the rest of the players. I love the music but the industry...

I forgot to add that how many regular guys have people that tell you what you can say or can't?

Re: New hope for the 'Legacy'?
Or people could just put IMHO (in my honest opinion) which is saying, "This is what I believe." Others aren't require to believe it. You can listen to the argument and make up your own mind, if it isn't made up already. Most people don't want to talk politics or religion because they either don't know enough about them and when someone brings new information and it don't jibe with the old information. That when people don't know what to do at that point. However, this probably isn't the best site for those things but as Tito said, "whats the point of speaking your mind if its going to have a restriction?" Which I agree 100%! People can't seem to take a joke or know when it's little ribbing. Isn't that how American sports guys are like, "Your team sucks" when it really means 'Let's be friends.' I'd still like to know what they are doing with the house. If it was to be a historical house, cool. If they don't want anyone there, just as cool.
