I can sympothise with you as i know your connections and we have discussed the shit storm behind the 'whys and reasons' even if it was all done in a correct way and no one was feeling ripped off or used. It would still be an item with no backing from the family. Thank God! Bob's book has got the thumbs up and it will be out shortly. It would of been cool to see the docu and other projects that have failed. But for now we just have to be grateful for what is out there.
Hi Shaun,
I haven't had time to look through the forum for a while and things seem to have got a bit personal. I may not agree with your views about Randy's family and what they should or shouldn't be doing for his legacy, but they're your views and you help to keep this site alive by posting them, and by sharing your knowledge about the original Blizzard band, shows and photographs. You always speak your mind and I'd defend your right to do so.
I first came to this site because I'd been banned from another one for speaking my mind on one occasion, I'd hate for that kind of repression of opinion to infiltrate this site. The other site died because of that kinda thing.
I don't know the Rhoads family but I do know that Randy loved every one of them and spoke about them all with great affection.
I don't know anything about other projects that didn't happen so I'm not sure why you think that the family have the desire or the power to block any new material coming out. I can only say that as far as Bob Daisley's book is concerned, no member of the Rhoads family has asked to see anything that he's written about Randy, and yet they've been supportive and friendly from day one.
If they changed their opinions about Margolis and Klein after initially trying to work with them on the RR film, I'm not in the least bit surprised but you know what I think of them and the way they do business.
Fans may or may not approve of the way the family choose to remember Randy and, as I've said, I think it's the fans' right to express their views on the forum, but it's also the family's right to honour Randy as they see fit because they knew the man and they know what Randy would want.
Deciding how to best commemorate someone you love dearly is hard at any time. I speak as someone who lost a partner to cancer a couple of years ago and I can honestly say that if I owned a vineyard I would plant a vine for my loved one, in fact I would plant a vine for all of my loved ones that have passed and turn each one of those vines into wine, I think that would be a beautiful, intoxicating way to celebrate their lives. It may not be to everyone's taste but I'm with Randy's sister on that one.
Here endeth the rant!
Cheers, from a soon to be intoxicated Sky..
PS. Didn't say pissed because americans seem to think that means angry for some reason... Weird!
