we got the magic QRII
I have looked and cannot find any tabs to the intro riff for WGTM on QR II
do any of you who are gifted at tabbing songs have that little run? If so I would really appreciate it if you would share it with me and the board -- Im learning the guitar and wanted to use that run as a dexterity exercise - playing Randy's stuff keeps me motivated otherwise I get frustrated and put the guitar down waaay tooooo quickly
thanks in advance
I pray all have a great new year to come.

Re: we got the magic QRII
I love that song! I think the intro is pretty much like this;
------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------
--------------------------------------------2-4-
--------------------0-4-2--------0-4-2-0-4-----
-------0-4-2-0-2-4--------0-2-4----------------
-0-2-4------------------------------------------ repeat - then chord break
F5 D5 B5
----------------------------------2-4-
---------3---------------------2-5----
---------2-------4----------2-4-------
-4-------0-------4-------2-4----------
-4---------------2----2-4-------------
-2----------------2-4-----------------
The chords get a little lost in the mix. In the above you have to start playing the last run imediatly on an upstroke after hitting the B5. In the studio mix I imagine the chords are a separate guitar. For playing it solo, the B chord should be held for a measure equal to the follow triplets. This makes I awkward as you are playing it like the last in a group of triples before beginning the actual triplet run.
Disclaimer; my theory, timing and tab are very rusty
Also note similarity to a certain part of S.A.T.O

Appears to be in the key of A major. Pentatonic scale to the ready if you feel like some improvisation!

You're welcome! Not many people show the love for the old QR records, but I love them, so I'm happy to share some riffs!
Hope you had a good holiday season

Re: we got the magic QRII
Hey Rob, thanks for posting the tab for this song. I've been trying to learn it as it's one of my favorites. Any chance on getting
the lead too? lol
Randy makes it sound so melodic and smooth that it's hard to duplicate. I wonder if he picks all the notes, or uses hammer ons and pull offs.
Anyway, thanks again.

Re: we got the magic QRII
Wow Paul, this is awesome. I've been wanting to learn this song ever since hearing it. If you don't mind indulging my ignorance, what does the nomenclature on top mean? I see an "S" a bunch of "E" some "Q" and some "H"s too. Also, what does the "3" designate?
Your tab starts with some notes and on top you have written: H + Q E E + Q + H E E and I'm sorry to say that I don't understand what it means.
Thanks Again, Paul!

Not interested in the discussions here any longer, but I still want to help further anyone's desire to play Randy's music.Geo Sav wrote:Paul!! You back in the New York groove??
dougalhaven, the E = eighth note, Q = quarter notes, H = half notes, s = slide, 3 = triplet... 'll email you the PowerTab and the Guitar Pro tab.

Hey dougalhaven,
Sorry, I totally missed your post
Would have been happy to provide the lead, but it looks like Paul has beaten me to it!
Good job Paul!
