Not at all, dude. I just thought you may have been privy to info the rest of us were not. I completely agree that his actions (well, what we know of them, if we indeed know the whole story, and if said actions took place), and the perception of those actions have been, shall we say, less than flattering.

I'm not defending the guy, I'm just curious. Though the guy has never done anything to me personally, he's always seemed a little, how shall I say, sketchy.

While I think it's great that he keeps his friend's memory alive and honours it in his own way, it certainly seems he is not above using that to make some coin. To be honest, he has always kinda come across as a tad desperate.

And, like Idol said, this is just my opinion. :)

with gold at 1700$ an ounce it would be a worthwhile dig.

Back to the DVD - I was rather surprised to learn the real name of the QR II album. Now after hearing the real story behind it - the cover photo makes sense after all these years :)

I don't know Kelly G. at all. If he sold his RR collection it probably was out of desperation and you never get what it's worth when you're desperate. As they say, it is a stinky cologne. It sucks to be desperate. He has to live with himself for things he regrets in his life as we all do. As a Randy fan, I would like to hear his story. The only sketchy things I though of is when he appeared with Romeo Rose and played that crappy song for the ill-fated Randy documentary and punched RR in the eye the night he quit. I wonder if that was jealousy over Randy and his talents or realizing you aren't that good and you are holding the band back (the weakest link). Anybody wanna ask Ron Sobal for the super 8 masters? Though, I think Tin Soldier's is complete.

2nd and 10. Still, a name for the album doesn't help. Gawd, those outfits! How could anybody think that was cool? I had a friend who likes Randy's playing but has that homo-phobe (it's weird) reaction to their looks which I GET IT. They were bad costumes. Its probably why they didn't get signed until 1983.

Joe every account of Kelli doing projects with numbskulls like Romeorose etc. He was desparate then and he's desparate now. Remember the phone call that was posted on youtube calling the fans. He doesn't pull any punches he's said enough to be put in the pigeon hole marked 'failed'. He was long gone from Quiet Riot when he joined Ozzy and i don't think Randy was the same friend of old. He welcomed him at the LA gig because Randy is the type of guy who wouldn't so no. From what i can make out he isn't making much money as a free lance photographer so he will do projects to try to keep his head above water. But with his collection gone and the Ormsby bass sold which both gave him a good return. What can he do now to make a crust. The book will make him money but he'll be lucky to draw even if it's costing him anything to put it out. Remember the donations which is his way of getting something for nothing. I can sympathise with him as the world doesn't do no favours for you when the bank account is empty and your future prospects of work are dimm. Was he interviewed for the original Margolis documentary and if he wasn't why would they leave out a close friend who could bring plenty to the table ???. Alot of unanswered questions to why etc but he's the only one who can put an answer to why he isn't the flavoured guy of old.

I have the Ron Sobol super 8 on VHS but not as good as they look here. The old VHS transfers had the film "not tracked" sometimes. I would have like to see them and it would have made a great bonus!

This IS NOT THE PETER MARGOLIS/Dakota Films DOCUMENTARY! Ron confirms that film is in limbo. This is Ron's account w/Peter's lesson tape.

I emailed Ron and asked in a nicer tone. Good interview. That answered a few questions. 40 min of super 8, NOT the Dakota Films doc, etc.
