UGLY guitars

Post by Paul Wolfe »

So I was at the Metal Method site looking at the video samples of their products. Metal Riffology by Sarah Spisak looks interesting, but that guitar is FREAKING UGLY!!!

Image

It's SO ugly I thought I'd start a thread on what everyone thinks are the ugliest guitars on the market (or discontinued because nobody wanted them)...

If you put that guitar into the hands of a Norwegian death Metal guitarist i'm sure it would look ok. Guitars can be any shape but some are just hideous. I think it's all down to individual taste. I've always disliked the head stocks on Dean guitars that upside down V just looks too top heavy.

Maybe if he was a 7 foot tall Viking...

Dutch, if that guitar had come out without Randy's version first, it wouldn't look so bad.

For the record, I'm thinking of ugly production guitars, not custom jobs. Like Gibson's L6S

Dean has many ugly guitars... this combo of a Les Paul and an Explorer:

Even the combo of a V and an Explorer that Dime made popular is kinda ugly.

The Razor back version of the Dime guitar is worse. Ive always disliked the Rosewell. Oh yeah, any BC Rich should fit this nicely too.

yeah, the Razorback's are pretty ugly.

Zakk's 'ZV' ain't too pretty, either.

As for BC Rich, the Mockingbird is a good looking guitar, but that's the only one of theirs I like.

Dean and BC Rich are ok given context. Some Deans look gorgeous!

That Zakk Wilde ZV is utterly disgusting... what was he thinking. Bad ass Les Paul, check. Bad ass Flying V, check. Twin neck SG, check. Why would he want that rubbish??? Nothing about the design or paint works. Looks even worse up close

It's got to be everyones individual taste as i like that Zakk V with the SG type horns. It was a unique guitar when it came out and a clever idea of crossing the 2 guitars mentioned.

Very true. A lot of people like Carvin guitars, especially since you can customize them, I just think they are ugly.

I also find that I judge a guitar based on headstock design... it's amazing how much a headstock can influence the overall look of a guitar.

THe only ugly guitar on this thread is that peice of shit Gibson. I like just about all the rest. And I own a Carvin and a Dean ML and I really like both of them. But hey. Different strokes for different folks. At heart I am a metal guy. So the BC Rich stuff I like. I really liked Slash's Mocking bird. And these new models are really nice for the money. Some one posted a pick of them. I also am a fan of the Zakk Wylde ZV. I really like the style of it. I am a Dean fan and when I saw that I like the Gibson Brand more and the head stock just looks slick. Any way carry on.

I've always loved the A20. A friend of mine had a red one back when I first bought my '66 Mustang. Back in the early '80's an A20 was SO MUCH cooler than a Mustang.
