Randys postcard and writing location for Blizzard and Doam
This is where Randy is talking about in his postcard to Frank, its now run by an old school friends sister, I called her today and said it would be no problem to come up and take a few photos, she said that she is always finding out new stuff about the place since she took it on, Sabbath were there recently and Queen apparently wrote " Bicycle Race " in the shed.!

It's regret, i think that really is the worst kind of pain, yeah guilt is bad, and sadness is bad, but regret is the sickly combination of both.

So its Rockfield studios he's describing in the postcard. I always thought it was more of a rented property to stay at while in pre-production. I gather non of the album parts had been recorded for the album here. It was mainly used for writing and working out the tracks which ended up on Blizzard. I've heard Phil Campbell / Motorhead rehearsed here when Jimmy Page was doing the Page & Plant album. They ended up down the pub on a regular basis and those albums didn't get finished until the pub was closed.
It looks very much like Ridge Farm it has the same type of atmosphere. I wonder if Jodi has fond memories of coming to visit Randy here ?. I bet her postcards would be full of info and XXXXX of course

Hey Shaun no not Rockfield the Studio mate it was Monnow Valley rehearsal studio up the road which was part of Rockfield studios at the start Rockfield studio was used as the recording facility and Monnow Valley as the residential / rehearsal home ( this is where the writing sessions went on)

If you look on the map and type the address of Monnow Valley in and then Rockfield studios you can see how close they were , Monnow Valley is the old house on the river Randy was talking about

This brings back memories of a thread over at TK. It was amazing how the place was found with a sentence from Rudy's book and a photo. Check it out

Re: Randys postcard and writing location for Blizzard and Do
We discussed a photo from inside the tour bus from the late 1981 tour. If the chances of the coach company being the same, with the same driver ?. The photo only shows his legs and a reflected image in the rear view mirror. If it is him it's pure speculation. It's the only known photo i've seen of him ?. The thread is here and its the 8th photo down...mojopin70 wrote: P.S Have you ever seen a photo of Andrew Aycock Shaun?

I don't believe that was Andrew. I think someone, maybe Iron at TK might have mentioned who it was. I can't recall when Andrew joined the tour as a driver. Maybe TA would know. Linda's photos are from the Blizzard tour.GUITARIDOL5682 wrote:We discussed a photo from inside the tour bus from the late 1981 tour. Re: Randys postcard and writing location for Blizzard and Do
I know bands can request drivers from the tour companies. It was a long shot to think it was AA. But nothing to see it could be him..
Re: Randys postcard and writing location for Blizzard and Do
I had a look at that Shaun i got distracted by the nice looking ladies in the photos , but i remember in Sarzos book he mentions A>A as a " bespectacled southerner" i think he said , so the first thing i was looking for were Glasses, i read that he came on to the tour quite late? i mean not long before the accident....to see those photos of inside the bus are eerie , the 70s decor and it brings to life some of the things in Sarzos book.
