Re: Interview with Bob Daisley on unreleased Randy rehearsal
I think just releasing those rehearsal tapes alone doesn't make much sense (imo). Explanation and comments are needed from those were there to make things more sense, understandable and so interesting. And that of course will quickly result into a sort of documentary how Blizzard & Diary were written in detail.
So in my opinion these audio recordings should be incorporated in a documentary. Of course the box-set would have been perfect for this..... Next would be the Dakota documentary, but we know how that did end as well...

The winner of the rat race is still a rat.
Re: Interview with Bob Daisley on unreleased Randy rehearsal
Ya right.Everything comes to light eventually.
Bob can't seem to cut a deal with Osbournes in any way, shape or form.
He had a fallout with the documentary producer, and can't seem to get his much promised book out, all the while being VERY public about his plight.
Of course, its all Sharon's fault.
Re: Interview with Bob Daisley on unreleased Randy rehearsal
Maybe Bob has something like this:
Jake guitar solo outtake '83.
Here's more from BATM sessions.
We don't know the quality of Bob's tapes but here's a question: even if it is the same quality as those clips above what's it worth? Hearing them would be gold to us Randy fans but is there true commercial potential that would make Sony release it on CD? I doubt it would be a hit if sold separately. Most people want to hear the finalized product, not take 68. I've listened to those BATM clips maybe once, it's cool stuff to hear but maybe once a year or two.
I think Bob's tapes should've been part of the last years box set and special edition remasters if anything. A missed opportunity indeed.

Ah, Shred1, you've surfaced again and this time you're misinterpreting my words instead of Bob's.
Unlike you, I'm positive that Bob's book will be released when he's ready.
I don't recall Bob being 'public' at all of late unless you're referring to the way that he always answers people's messages when they write to him... But you'd know all about that, you wrote to him often enough.

Re: Interview with Bob Daisley on unreleased Randy rehearsal
Ah Sky, NO ONE has been more public about their legal 'battles' than Bob Daisley.
You are his webmaster, (or maybe Bob himself), but you don't seem to see his comments on FB, which constantly say the Osbournes are full of shit, or words to that effect.
Maybe if Bob stopped calling the Osbournes liars in public, they may be a little more 'willing to deal'.
Things seem to go for a sh** when its Bob's turn to sign..... going right back to the reason he got fired from Ozzy.
And you might wanna double check that 'signed copies' list - I am not on it.

I would love to hear from you why Bob was fired from the "Blizzard" band, it would be interesting to hear your version of events so I have something to compare to Bob's version.shred1 wrote:Ah Sky, NO ONE has been more public about their legal 'battles' than Bob Daisley.

Re: Interview with Bob Daisley on unreleased Randy rehearsal
Lets have a quick look at what credits on the back of an album cover really mean.....and how shallow they really are.
One example could be "Suicide Solution". Ozzy comes up with "Wine is fine, but whiskey's quicker".....nice start to the lyrics, (even if it is a "Saying" well used by the general public in pubs and bars) Randy comes up with the lick, Bob and Randy start writing the music, and while doing that Bob writes the rest of the lyrics, with Ozzy in mind, then Ozzy throws in a suggestion or two concerning melody. Randy and Bob keep re-working the music, Bob changes up a lyric or line here and there, then Ozzy, Bob and Randy start rehearsing the song and getting the arrangement together. Lee comes into the picture just two weeks before the recording sessions and works out exactly what he'll play on drums for the song.
So now lets look at the credit on the album
"All Compositions : Osbourne/Daisley/Rhoads Except "Dee" (Rhoads) and "No Bone Movies" (Osbourne/Daisley/Rhoads/Kerslake)
The credits don't explain much at all do they.
And in several different interviews Ozzy comes out with "Yeah, me and Randy wrote that one, Randy was just warming up and does this slide thing on the guitar, I said, "What was that you just played?" and Randy says..."I didn't play anything.."..... I said, "Yeah you did, that thing you just did".....Randy say's "oh you mean this.....(Plays what he did again)....that isn't anything".....and thats how "Suicide Solution" came about.....I wrote it about Bon Scott, he'd just died....horrible situation, choked on his own vomit while he was asleep in a friends car..............etc...etc..etc...

Re: Interview with Bob Daisley on unreleased Randy rehearsal
Correct. Sharon realised she wouldn't have full control of Ozzy and the band if they (the band) had a say in what "the band" does and doesn't do. This became very apparent to her when a dissagreement broke out over booking and playing two shows in one day in the US. Also the fact that it's far more money for Sharon and Ozzy to have "hired musicians" in the band and not "members of the band".......Hired guns are entitled to a set "wage" and nothing more. Bob, Lee and Randy were entitled to an equal share of profits, and also performance rights. Sharon had to keep Randy though, but now that the band "Blizzard" had broken up, new contracts were also required. One for Randy as well, putting him on a "wage" too...........and it was all down hill from there.shred1 wrote:I believe it was about money.
A business decision was made in self interest, not what would be best for the "band", nothing more.
Yes ...they even ripped off Randy, and continue to profit from his name today.

Wrong again Shred1. I'm not Bob's webmaster and I'm certainly not the man himself but I do see all public and business messages that are sent to his site and FB. We've been through the other crap before with what you say, what you think Bob says and what I say. No point in going through it all again, 'doubt that we'll ever see eye to eye.shred1 wrote:Ah Sky, NO ONE has been more public about their legal 'battles' than Bob Daisley.

That'll never happen............what Shred, and a lot of other people, fail to notice is that Bob talks about "Blizzard" being "the four of us, all contributing to making that magic that happened, it was the sum total of all the parts"..............where as from the Osbournes point of view it was Ozzy and Randy that made that magic, and Bob and Lee were nothing more than hired session musicians and then trouble making hacks that had to be replaced..........but of course, Bob is the one with the problems,.......what a joke.Sky wrote:Wrong again Shred1. Re: Interview with Bob Daisley on unreleased Randy rehearsal
rokket, I have my own point of view, thank you very much.
You keep trying to ram home the point that Bob and Lee made big contributions to those albums. I agree! And have since my first post here.
I did find it curious however, that RR doesn't mention Bob or Lee in the recently posted John Stix interview. And yes, he may have been instructed to do so.
What happened THEN and what I believe is happening NOW are two different things.
Back then, they were simply making music, a brilliant guitarist hadn't met an untimely death, and NO ONE knew if those albums were gonna be a success.
And not to belittle any of the musicians contributions to those albums, but there is a decapitated dove out there somewhere that deserves a wall full of platinum discs too.

Yes, that's how most rock bands make music. But what's your point? Ozzy shouldn't have credits altho he's responsible for vocal melodies? Only Bob should be credited? Where's Randy in all this?rokket wrote:Lets have a quick look at what credits on the back of an album cover really mean.....and how shallow they really are.

All I'm saying is that it's pretty useless to fight 30+ years later who did what in a recording studio. At least all of them are credited!!! It would be different situation if somebody wrote the music and lyrics and brought music sheets into the studio and said "play and sing this". And even in that case the whole band would most likely get credit for arranging the song.
Ozzy is a solo artist who's had great musicians and composers working with/for him. Maybe that's why he says things like "I did this and that" instead of "Bob, Jimmy Vallance or Lemmy did this and that". I guess Elvis spoke about his songs too altho they were mostly written by others, like Leiber & Stoller.

Re: Interview with Bob Daisley on unreleased Randy rehearsal
I must be a rabid RR fan because I found myself thinking about this very topic over lunch today with my eldest son and his fiance - lol - the O's have gone out of their way to lie about sh*t while Bob and Lee have remained steadfast in their story so I think Bob and Lee are more credible. But there are valid points to both sides; like the 65k check that Ozzy was given for recording (hence he was signed solo) or that artists regularly use writers or ghost writers for their material (not just Ozzy) and that no one expected Blizzard or Diary to be popular 30+ years later.rokket wrote:

What sucks is that Randy isn't here to add his .02; I don't believe that Sharon slept with him (or 18 months of wife swapping, whatever) ..... something tells me that Randy would also be waiting on his royalties because that is just how the O's roll - which is unfortunate because there really was magic w/those 4 men together that cannot be replicated or erased.

Re: Interview with Bob Daisley on unreleased Randy rehearsal
Can't we all get along? There's a stir in the hen-house and somehow I'm not a part of it. Kidding. Love or hate Bob, you have to admit he and Lee have been written out of the past like 1984 by Sharon or Ozzy, whomever you choose to pick as the antagonist. Ozzy could have gotten some balls and said something but he didn't. Randy was unhappy, we all know with his tenure with the Ozzy band, by the end. I don't need to imagine what would happen if Randy was alive. The would of used him over and over and told him you signed this and we own this... Hey, I love the crazy Ozzy onstage and on album but I can see through the BS. I ain't 12 anymore. That was 2 years go. I gotta go. Mom is calling me.
