Loved it, Geo... I've been reading Avengers comics since 1976, so I had high hopes for this movie to be done well and I wasn't disappointed.

Prometheus scared the crap out of me! Ridley Scott did a wonderful job with this Sci-Fi flick. Go see it!!

PROMETHEUS.
I liked the story... I hated the actors and even more so - hated the absolute lack of any character development.
What were these people doing...and why should we give a shit?
There was gaping holes in their motivation.
One character believes in God and wears a cross while looking for the origins of humankind on the other side of the universe - which seems absurd. Another has no belief in God, is apparently brilliant and yet a drunken fool... a woman who seems like an ominous tyrranical commander of the operation (Theron) who does absolutely nothing in the entire film... an android that acts more human then any of the people on board and a man who spends trillions of dollars looking for immortality.
But theres no development of any of these characters.
The only person of the film of any interest is the Neo-punk Geologist who makes it very clear that he's only here for the paycheck... and gets the fuck out (logically) when corpses of dead aliens appear.

Hopefully things fall into place better for the follow-up that Ridley Scott apparently has planned.

Ludo-narrative dissonance!

Honestly this film is a dead donkey I could happily kick around like a football, the idea of a follow scares me. The idea of a sequel to Blade Runner, which I've heard rumoured, makes me pray Scott will retire.

I really loved how The Dark Knight Rises wrapped up the trilogy, and picked up on little themes planted in the first film. I enjoyed it tremendously, but looking back, have to admit the film has quite a lot of flaws. If it wasn't part of a trilogy my opinion would not have been so high.

Also, talking as a focus puller, did it look out of focus/soft focus a time to anybody else? Maybe it was the projectionist, but at times the image just looked a tad soft to me!?

I did not. 2K digital projection in a standard size cinema. Parts of the film were shot with 65mm, those were the parts where I noticed softer focus. To be fair my friend didn't notice anything. Maybe I'm just becoming too discerning these days.

It could be any number of things really. I just received the latest issue of American Cinematographer, which covers the film, maybe it will reveal something!
