Re: HEY FRIENDS.....
So this is what PM has salvaged from his wasted time trying to do the documentary. Well i suppose it's better then nothing, but is it going to be a book full of interviews ?. I know he had to pay for the copyright on photos etc so he must of decided to use them in the book. Yeah i understand what Paul is saying $100 is a lot to hand over when the purse strings are tight. But i'm sure if you drop a few hints it could end up under the Christmas tree.

Re: HEY FRIENDS.....
Wasn't this supposed to be offered on the Guitar World site along with the Quiet Riot Years book & DVD for $150??? I want to hold off ordering before I find out if this offer will still happen... As hard as it is to wait! Is the audio from that YouTube promo available in full anywhere? PS. $60 shipping to Australia is ridiculous but I'll pay it just like a sucker...
Re: HEY FRIENDS.....
the stuff in the video with randy talking has that been heard before????.......blow me away and made me want the doco (more than the book)
Re: HEY FRIENDS.....
I was thinking the exact same thing. Would have been really cool if they included a CD with all the audio featured in the YT Promo in full.sytharnia wrote:the stuff in the video with randy talking has that been heard before????.......blow me away and made me want the doco (more than the book)
I might hold off for now and see what happens, I don't think it's going far atm, plus $160, might actually need to save for this one lol!

Re: HEY FRIENDS.....
I'm on the fence with this, really- I don't want to spend a hundred bucks for 351 pages of "unreleased" ... interviews with artists that were influenced by Randy, but if this is as good as it says it is, I'll probably get it!
However, I'm apprehensive about it being a cash grab by some of the same people that littered Randy's legacy with horsesh*t not too long ago (yeah, I read that mess!
) I'm not an undiscerning fan, I won't throw my money into any/everything Randy- for example, I didn't even contemplate buying the action figures (regardless of their value- just me, though) so I can't blame Paul or anyone else for saying "no thanks" right at the jump.

Your average Joe is not going to buy at this price point! IMHO you have to a rabid/obsessed fan to buy this, ie. have RR shrine erected some where in your home. I bought the box set mainly for the footage, and remastered audio and live stuff. I don't regret buying the box set, although I was hoping for much better footage than we got. It's not something I think is have to have item, although at the time I did. This book is even less of a have to have item considering what you are getting for the price. I'm not jumping on this like I did the box set. Maybe a future purchase depending on reviews and me knowing exactly what I'm getting.

Re: HEY FRIENDS.....
Is that fine line of obsession purchasing a book? This has nothing to do with obsession. It's about being a Randy fan and collecting a nice piece of memorabilia. This book will have PHOTOS in it that no one has ever seen before, it's not just about interviews from people we haven't heard from yet. I'll bet the people who start complaining about how they don't care for this book are going to be asking for free scans later.Stiltzkin wrote:there's a fine line between being a fan and being obsessed...Silver Rhoads wrote:So, why wouldn't this book be worth it Paul?

Yes, money is very tight. I know it is for me. Many people on the boards were upset about paying a high price for a bottle of wine and asked for something that would be worth it ... well, here it is. If you don't think so, don't buy it.

from the bio @ http://www.blabbermouth.net/news.aspx?m ... mID=176002sytharnia wrote:the stuff in the video with randy talking has that been heard before????.......blow me away and made me want the doco (more than the book)
"Recently, his main focus has been on organizing his incredibly extensive and rare collection of audio interviews dating back to 1973. The entire library represents well over 1,000 hours of content with hundreds and hundreds of classic rock’s most engaging, enraging, and entrancing characters."
Has Rosen interviewed Randy? Then chances are that there is audio we haven't heard before- will we ever have the chance to hear it, may be another question.

Re: HEY FRIENDS.....
$100 for a book on KISS is a ripoff, too. Sure people bought it, and people will buy this, too, but it's still a rip off. Why is it that when you put the name Randy Rhoads on it you have to charge a ton of money for it?Silver Rhoads wrote:Paul Wolfe wrote:You've got to be kidding me! $99 for a book? Who gives a crap how many pages it is, that's simply a rip off. Not a chance in hell I'd pay that.![]()
A ton of people bought the Kisstory book. I have forgotten how much it was. What was it? I know it was at least $100.00 or more and people loved it. So, why wouldn't this book be worth it Paul?
As for what Stiltzkin said, that's very true. People obsessed will shell out the money, I'm a fan who won't. I know there are collectors like Donnie who will buy it and I'm fine with that. I just feel that the book could be sold for less than half that amount and make money.
As I've said before, there are more important things in this world to spend money on. There are homeless folks and unemployed folks scraping to make ends meet. Spend $100 on them and live without the book is my feeling.

and it seems for you there's a fine line between being a fan and not being a fan and u kind of lean towards the latter?Stiltzkin wrote:there's a fine line between being a fan and being obsessed...Silver Rhoads wrote:So, why wouldn't this book be worth it Paul?

Re: HEY FRIENDS.....
the book would worth it if it came with full audio;
The book will only feature the same story we all know.. 100$ for that?? better have something really really really cool in it

Re: HEY FRIENDS.....
Very true, Donnie. $100 isn't out of reach, and I'm sure some can afford it. I have no problem with people who want it paying that much. I guess I find it offensive that $100 is being asked for it... my issue is with the seller, not the fans who buy it.Donnie wrote:all jokes aside though come on its kind of expensive but not totally out of reach expensive (12,000 for a guitar is out of reach and kind of insulting, 8k for a les paul same story)
