I'd say it goes to show that not
everything needs to be global... back in the day, television shows in the U.S. were created for citizens in the U.S. with no thought of other countries interest. Now everyone wants the whole world to share in everything produced.
Over the years I've seen a number of British television shows, and I don't like/don't get them. A hit show in the UK doesn't translate to a hit show in the US (unless we steal the concept and Americanize it

)... I'd say
the Big Bang Theory is one of those shows meant for US consumption. I love this show and think it's hilarious. It'd be nice if they could find humor in non-sex-related topics - but that just goes to show the frame of mind most viewers in this country are in so often.
Ultimately, Sheldon Cooper will be a pop icon for years. Hopefully Jim Parsons will find life after Sheldon.
