I will never forget that moment when I first heard the news of the plane crash. So many of the people at my school were just in shock. It blows me away that 30 years have since passed. No words can express the deep sense of gratitude that I feel towards Randy for all the music, the guitar lessons that have been released over the years and three very timeless albums in Blizzard, Diary and Tribute.

You left your mark, Randy and we still celebrate your music and your life today.

Wow,30 years......where has the time gone? Sadly around this time, the news reports trickled in informing us our Superman had passed. Still chokes me up and bring's tears to my eye's.

To Randy and the Rhoads family - thank you for the inspiration/hope to a kid that would have been troubled and lost without the music that soothed my soul. I will use this day to reflect apon not how this day changed me but,how the music/dreams and hopes kept me going and led me to where I am today. Forever in my thought's and prayers.

R.I.P. Randy Rhoads
Thank you and god bless
Paul

From http://www.thisdayinmusic.com

9th March 1982, Ozzy Osbourne's rhythm guitarist and former Quiet Riot member Randy Rhoads was killed when the plane he was riding in crashed. After driving much of the night, the band had stopped near a small airstrip. The tour bus driver, Andrew Aycock, talked the band's keyboardist, Don Airey, into taking a test flight in a '55 Beechcraft Bonanza, the joyride ended, and the plane landed safely. Then Aycock took Rhoads and Rachel Youngblood on another flight and attempts were made to "buzz" the tour bus. The left wing clipped the bus, which sent the plane spiraling into a nearby house and bursting into flames. All three bodies were burned beyond recognition, and were identified by dental records.

I couldnt even imagine where Randy's music would be today if he was still wth us. What he gave us in the few short years he was here is just phenomenal, even life changing (which some people may never get). Had to go way back this morning and put on the Quiet Riot's " Randy years"; just blown away... I dont think anyone has filled that void since his passing. Thank You Randy.

Wow... Thirty years on already... I too remember that day well. I was 12 years old and home from school sick that day. I heard about the plane crash over my father's AM radio wafting into the living room where I was. I was just beginning to get into Ozzy and Randy then, too.

Thanks for the immortal genius of your music and playing, Randy. Time has not diminished your legacy whatsoever. If anything, your legacy only increases with each generation who gets to enjoy and be bowled over by your work.

R.I.P. Randy.

 I joined this site because I don't know where else to go to be around true fans. Was ninth grade that long ago? Was takin piano at the time and Randys Philly Spectrum show would have been my first concert. I was was beyond sad I was angry for a very long time.fucking death gives yousomething you can't bargain with, only deal with. I broke stuff, cried and started playing after saving some yardwork money. My God the outro solos on Tonight, You can't kill r&r and little dolls sounds like he knew it would end soon and they inspired and creeped me out back then. It was like losing a part of my life at the time. The greatest natural born killer on guitar OF ALL TIME. just get the shit out of your ears if you disagree. Now I'm going to play Revelation and SATO and windmill those final chords until my fingernails scream for more. Thankyou Randy, you are why I play and love the guitar and am a good guy to all I meet.I still think about what was happening in the cockpit, I've heard something was going on.That tweaker had no right flying like a ....well a tweaker. Exhale I'm just, the most pointless gesture takes the most important musician of our time??!!!!
