I remember either Kevin and/or Randy said in an interview (youtube?) that Kevin would help Randy with ideas for solos, etc. So I don't think that it's too farfetched that they would share some of the same ideas. I think Kevin probably was the closest to Randy, even after Ozzy. I read from multiple sources that Randy looked Kevin up at 3am for help fixing a pedalboard... that demonstrates how Randy felt about him. I know my best and closest friends, we can go a certain amount of time without talking and pick up right where we left off.
