I have so much trouble accepting religions views on homosexuality, I think society seems to have moved much further than religion when it comes to same sex relationships. I find some religions opinions embarrassing and humiliating.

I recently changed my stance on this subject. I was one of those who said, "The Bible says it's wrong. Period." I see things differently now.

Ditto for me although my bias wasnt religion based.Up til a few yrs ago i found gay guys as gross freaks.Although i find it bizarre that 2 men can get it on,its not my business and it doesnt affect me.I'm glad i have seen the light on this issue.I ttotally support the right of 2 same gender people getting married because they love each other.Why or how can you deny 2people who love each other.Isnt this what life is all about in the first place?

It seems to me that homosexuality is getting more and more accepted. I have no problem with that, but what I don't like is getting it shoved down my throat (yep, pun intended...). You can't even criticise a show like Gleek without people calling you a bigot.

I agree with all your points, what a rarity on the internet! I think the problem comes down to character flaw. You often find with minority groups or groups that have been historically oppressed that they seek this conflict as a way to "define" themselves. I don't know... I can't really describe exactly what I'm getting at hopefully you gather what I mean. Without the hatred they would just be... normal people ... and people don't generally like to be bog standard normal.

Somewhat off topic; One of my criticisms of Obama is that he can't seem to get over the fact that he's black. Maybe it's because i'm British but he really seems to dislike us, constantly making little comments about the British empire. Actually reminds me of one of my black friends who is always sending me stories about 'white oppression'.

We live in a much more open society (thank God) and sometimes these days it seems as though minority groups miss being hated... thoughts?

I wouldn't say that... I definitely see the Bible as a book of rules and guidelines for life.

The bible is OK and it has good socialist principles in showing how to treat your fellow man or woman with respect, share your food and be aware of others needs etc!
The churches were needed when we were un-educated and the bible would teach us universal education we need it less because we rely on the media to show us what is going on and we make our mind up from that. This has left us with the problem of corrupt rotten politiicians who grab the bible and exploit it to get votes by claiming they are doing the lords work.

Without having read the whole book, I would agree with Ian and say that the Bible is of worth in spreading good values.

Of course I would hope these things come naturally, but sometimes we all have to consult the user manual!

Here is a perfect example of the news media and certain 'high profile' members of the Christian faith putting the term Christian in a bad light by talking when they really should stay quiet.

Billy Graham was a respected evangelist, his son runs the risk of making a fool of himself by allowing the news media publish such an article.

Do I believe in life after death? YES, absolutely. I've experienced things that have confirmed this, in the presence of others that witnessed it, and I even have photos that prove that there is something out there (PM me and I'll point you to them).

As a result of those experiences (since I was app 4 years old (again, PM me and I'll share specifics) if there is life after death, then there has to be a creator, we didn't just happen spontaneously/for no reason. I believe that there is also a difference between spirituality and religion, religion is meant to provide fellowship, guidance, and direction to a mass of people who believe accordingly, the sad fact is that (like anything) it can be used as a divisive tool to control people and distort their views and perspectives on reality.

Without getting into all the specifics and the consequences as a result of them, I'll say that I think that religion should be used as a means to love one another and find solutions to make the world a better place for everyone in it. That if one were to read the bible and look for instrustion as to how to live their lives peacably and in accordance with His word, one could definitely find peace and direction. Sadly, however- there are those that take the bible, or specific things (particularly the Old Testament) and use them to incite hatred, violence, and perpetuate harm towards others (namely certain classes or ethnicities, etc) and it's sad, because religion does have that influence upon people, where it can be good or downright evil.

I believe. And I'm not afraid to say that publicly. I just don't use it as a means to judge or ridicule others. Faith has gotten me through some pretty tough times (and we all have a story:) and I've never been angry with Him. What good would faith be if it wasn't tested?

Also, I don't use it as a measure to tell others what to do, or how to live their lives. I wear it in my heart, not on my sleeve. Personally, I think that others ought to, too.

I don't blame others that don't want to hear it. I believe and I don't always want to hear it myself:)
