Is this a bash KR thread? If so it shouldnt be.I think if people have any sense of respect for the memory of RR they should abstain or edit themselves from bashing, speculating, conjecturing about the RR family. There are plenty of things to bitch about but come on,have some boundaries?

Ive always felt for many reasons that the RR family should stay far,far away from interaction on the web-this video can be seen as one reason.

That's sad on many levels.I wont comment further on that.
I think this is a case of where 2 wrongs dont make a right.
I remember i was bashing romeorose relentlessly and then his momentary friend kg started bashing me but i didnt respond to him,i took the high road and just bashed romerose more :)

No matter if your Randy's brother, friend, or past member of his band, you can't do anything without being accused, in some way or another, of making a living off his memory, or taking advantage somehow of his legacy or cheapening it. Unless your name is Ozzy Osbourne, which in most cases, seems to be acceptable, yet he's the one who's made more from the RR legacy than anyone I would imagine.

Rokket... you are the most one sided member of this board. Do you ever see anything as gray or is it always black and white?

I LOVE Randy Rhoads! He is the only reason i started playing guitar. But Ozzy did far too much before and far too much after 1979 - 1982 than to lay his legacy all on Randy and Bobs shoulders.

**Edit
I'm sorry Rokket, I don't mean for it to sound personal.

Thats cool, I respect your opinion. I see a lot of things as black and white, you are correct. It really doesn't matter to me what Ozzy did before and after Randy, if you make money off someones memory/legacy, then you make money from it. There's no " It's ok for me to do it because...." for Ozzy, he doesn't get off the hook in that regard as far as I'm concerned.

Thing's like Randy Rhoads Wine......is tragic....., whats next.....a replica RR ring and necklace set..........holy crap. Anything to make a $$$, roll up, roll up......

I'm not sure Randy is the "cash cow" that people think he is. Many said Kevin DeBrow was trying to cash in on him with the Randy Rhaods Years CD. Truth is that album didn't make any money. I'm not downplaying Randy at all.. but it is a limited market, as someone else said on one of the other threads. Futhermore I don't think the Box Set was much of a Cash Cow either. How many copies really sold? NOW, the 3 different sets of Remastered BLizzard and Diary albums (95, 2002, 2011) I will agree is a cash cow.

Thanks for taking my comments the right way Rokket.

I guess I see it differently. I never had a problem with the wine. Kathy family owns a winery. It was a natural thing for her to do as a tribute to her brother. It's what she knows. Selling that wine means nothing to their business or income. If you, or anyone else thinks it was a way to drum up business, then you are misinformed. It's just a nice way for her to honor her brother, who, by all accounts, she was close with. If she'd have owned a burger joint, perhaps she would have named a burger after him. Because it would help sell the burger???? Probably not.

Not sure if you've ever been to a memorial in San Bernardino or not. I've been to several, as well as the opening and display of the White Jackson @ CSUN and I can tell you without hesitation that Kathy has never, ever once come across as trying to cash in on her brother. She's never come across as obnoxious or seeking the spotlight, unlike others. Every time I've seen her, she has been friendly, quite and unassuming. Never trying to bring attention to herself, but keeping Randy's name present and the focus of the attention. Her personality strikes me as to what I've heard Randy was like. I'm not saying her brother is trying anything underhanded, but he's definitely coming at it from a different angle, at least in my opinion, which really doesn't amount to much beyond my opinion :-P

If selling it means nothing to their business/income, why sell it at $53.00 per bottle (highest price on the list perhaps), and why only donate a "generous portion" of the sales to the RR trust? donate the lot if it's of no concern to business.

By generous she meant not the gross but the net.But 53$ aint much. Its a one time thing and lets face it doesnt get much exposure so...whatever.The jackson guitar thing is another subject but i see that mostly as Jackson just whoring the name and promising some bux to the family or trust.Incorporating the RR birthdate into the price is blasphemous and appalling.I will call those 12k guitars lame ass retro garbage. And the fool who buys one probably also wears a michael jackson thriller-era leather jacket etc. How many unlimited incarnations of 'rr jackson limited editions' can that fuck clown, grover jackson, come up with?Has he no shame? He s gotta be the biggest whoremonger of all time,no?Now that is a guy that owes every frikkin million dollars he has to RR.For reals!

The RR name sells and makes big bucks. It's difficult ground I guess....it's hard to seperate an honest "tribute to" item and a "easy money" item. Guitars and Amps I can understand, but anything more than one or two "special RR" models, in my mind, is just taking advantage of RR's legacy.

It's when things get down to nothing to do with Randy that I get annoyed. Wine, Pens, Wallets, etc etc.

Is there an RR style replica guitar strap? I could live with an item like that, at least it's relevant.

There are RR straps on ebay. There was (is?) a snakeskin replica selling for 100$+ if I remember correctly. There were (are?) also studded straps for sale.

yeah, considering how they handle Randys legacy, or lack thereof, it's probably the best thing for them to do.
