Re: new Lee interview with Bravewords.com
You would have enjoyed it the whole thing was re-recorded, if say, Zakk re-recorded Randy's guitar parts etc.....???!!!!Alex wrote:My only gripe with the re-recordings is that they don't sound the same as the originals. I would have enjoyed it if the whole thing was completely re-recorded, though.
It's kind of sad that Bob and Lee's only claim to fame seems to be through others.
I really think Bob's claim to fame was a done deal before Ozzy and Randy, being part of the classic "Rainbow" line-up....Bob and Lee in Uriah Heep was pretty cool, Bob's time with Gary Moore was also awesome.......etc etc
Re: new Lee interview with Bravewords.com
This idea is something completely different as just replacing Bob and Lee. If Zakk replaces Randy, these recordings would never replace the originals and would just be a tribute to the original four. They would not sell under the same name, not as 're-recordings'.rokket wrote:You would have enjoyed it the whole thing was re-recorded, if say, Zakk re-recorded Randy's guitar parts etc.....???!!!!Alex wrote:My only gripe with the re-recordings is that they don't sound the same as the originals. The idea of Zakk doing a whole cover of Blizzard and Diary would not be a bad idea in my opinion. We all know Zakk is big Rhoads fan, so he will treat all the songs with great respect. I wonder what Zakk could do on Tonight etc..

Re: new Lee interview with Bravewords.com
I'd hate to see Randy's guitar parts re-recorded by anyone, just as I hated that Bob and Lee's parts were re-recorded......whats the point? There was no need to replace anything, Sharon only did it as a kind of sad revenge against Bob and Lee, really it was pretty pathetic......you can't re-invent the wheel.....but Sharon would try if she thought it would serve as some kind of pay back or make her a $.Stewie wrote:This idea is something completely different as just replacing Bob and Lee. I agree, but the thing I wanted to say is that if everything gets rerecorded it would be a nice tribute.

Blasphemer!

As for Bob, it's still fame through others in those other bands as well. Ritchie Blackmore, Dio, Gary Moore, Tony Iommi, Jimmy Barnes, Steve Morse etc, all had individual success. Where's the Bob Daisley trio?
I do agree with the premise of excluding Bob and Lee through the re-recordings, but the execution of the whole thing could have been better.
I don't think the way you achieve fame is a bench mark to say if it's genuine or not.......it's like saying Randy's fame is bogus because it came about as a result of joining with Ozzy......fame is fame, no matter how it's achieved.

I get what your saying, but Randy's 'fame' is a by product of having been with Ozzy, and sadly, losing his life at such a young age. Back in Randy's "Quiet Riot" days he wasn't turning heads around the world as a 'great' guitarist.......Randy is his own entity, yes, but mainly (not entirely) driven by his popularity after his death.....I'm sure his popularity tripled in the years to follow, much like it does for others who pass away.
A good example would be Dime Bag......I'd barely heard anything much about him being "one of the greatest guitarists to walk the earth" until after he was killed......his popularity shot through the roof then.....he was on the cover of everything, and all of a sudden everyone was talking about him.....how his playing was inspirational, second to none, amazing, inventive and matched by very few....etc..etc..etc....bizzare how that happens!

Believe it or not, some professional musicians are in it for the music and don't give a fuck about 'celebrity' and all the bullshit that goes with it. As for Bob being "the guy who played with XXX", it's amazing how many one those XXXs asked him to go back to work with them time and time again. I have never heard a fellow musician badmouth Bob Daisley in the forty plus years that he's been in the business, and that speaks volumes.

Re: new Lee interview with Bravewords.com
I think what he's hung up on is someone else, Ozzy, taking and receiving the credit for those brilliant songs on the first few albums. Bit like if you wrote, lyrically, a dozen or so songs, and helped a lot with the music, then I release those songs under MY name, not our band name, and sit down with people to say what a great job I've done!!.....and keep the lions share of the money....AND give you stuff all credit.Alex wrote:Obviously Bob does give a fuck, or he wouldn't be as hung up over having written the lyrics on Ozzy's two first albums. He seems to credit himself with Ozzy's success.Sky wrote: Believe it or not, some professional musicians are in it for the music and don't give a fuck about 'celebrity' and all the bullshit that goes with it. He's bitter. Extremely bitter.
Yep, you'd be pissed off and chomping at the bit to tell the world the REAL story......probably you'd write a book about it, talk about it in as many interviews as you could....AND you'd probably sue me for the money that I owe you........!!!
I'd want to discredit you and your version of events, sweep it under the carpet as much as I can, because in reality, I don't want people to realise that I actually had stuff all to do with any of the songs that I've built my career on.......
Bitter........yeah you would be..........to say the least.
