They rudy pic doesn't look like someone filming.
But the Randy pic I'm not sure.
Filming from distance still could be very well possible without seeing any camera's or whatever. But unfortunetaly it's only speculating...
How big was "Heavy Metal Holocaust" for that time compared with other fesivals? Were other European festivals like that filmed as well? I mean if all other festivals in that period like that were filmed then why not this one.....

I think it would of been mentioned before now 40,000 people went to that gig and if it was filmed it would of been mentioned at the time.Everyone who went would of wanted the video,as it was a cracking day with a great line up.I've seen other photos taking from the back of the stadium and you cannot see any cameras. They would of had boom cameras and the pit would of had guys running about with hand held gear. Not a sign,Sorry chaps but this was NOT filmed. The Flying Dutchman wrote:How big was "Heavy Metal Holocaust" for that time compared with other fesivals? Yeah Randy's guitar tech was a guy called Pete Mertons i don't think that is him in the photo with the shades on. This HMH festival was a one off gig in the UK they had to fly from the USA to do this gig. They then went back to continue the US 1981 tour. They may have used other crew from the bill ?. But i have noticed that Tommy Aldridge's drum tech 'the Ox' is on a couple of the photos from this gig.
