Rock Band 3 DLC Part 2 - Master Tracks Download & Tutorial
Hey Again, so here's the Big one! In this post I'm going to show you guys how to use Audacity to create your own mixes of the Rock Band 3 DLC Tracks. Included is each part of the Bass, Drums, Guitars and Vocals for each song.
So, lets get started!
Firstly, some Requirements:
- Ozzy Osbourne 8-Pack Master Tracks: Download Here (Size:143.61MB)
- Audacity: http://audacity.sourceforge.net/ (I'm using version 1.3.13)
- LAME MP3 Encoder for Audacity: http://lame.buanzo.com.ar/ (Note that this is needed if you want to create mp3's of your mixes)
Once you have all of those you need to install Audacity and the LAME MP3 Encoder. If you need instructions they can be found on their respective websites.
Now your ready to get started!
1 - Extract the 'Ozzy Osbourne 8-Pack Master Tracks.rar' file using winrar and selecting where you want to save the Folder.
You can check out the folders and listen to each track individually if you want to hear what they each sound like independently. Included in each song is the tracks for the Bass, Drums, Guitars and Vocals. Note Percussion Instruments are found on the Vocal Track.
2- the next step is to open Audacity. 3- The Next step is the adding the Tracks to Audacity
In this example I'm going to use Ozzy's vocals and Randy's guitars to create my own mix using the song I Don't Know.
This involves just a simple drag and drop into Audacity by selecting the tracks dragging them to Audacity. 4 - Let it do it's thing and what you will end up with is something which looks like this: 5 - The next step is optional so you hear what the track sounds like without the bass and drums. Note that I have used the mute button on the left of the track to take it out and pressed 'play'. 6 - Once you have decided what you want to do you then need to select which tracks you use for your mix. In this case I'm going to select 'vocals' and 'Guitar'. So what you do is clear the 'bass' and 'drums' tracks from Audacity. There is a little box 'x' next to the track name. Use that to delete the track from your window. 7 - Your Window should now look something like this. 8 - Next step is to highlight the tracks. Do this by using "'Ctrl + A".
9 - Then you can now make your track!
To do this to to File > Export Selection...
Note the destination of where you want your file to be saved. I created a folder called 'Ozzy and Randy Mixes'.
You can name your file what ever you want here and also select the output file type. For this Chose MP3.
Then Hit 'Save'. 10 - Next Audacity will ask you if you want to edit metadata. Just click ok and then click ok for the Stereo channel warning.
11 - Now it's creating the file. 12 - Go to the destination of your saved file and you're done! You can add the mp3 to your iPod or do whatever you want with it!
That's it! Have a fiddle around with different mixes if you choose or do whatever you want with them.
It has been a real pleasure sharing these great tracks with you guys! I'm glad I have been able to give something back worthwhile to the RR community. Please Enjoy these marvelous tracks created by the one and only Blizzard of Ozz!
Cheers,
- Rhece

Thanks! I love these things. I record my own guitar onto them. I suck, but it's still fun to do.

Somehow I missed this thread!
Thanks very much for this. Just when I was getting bored with Randy from overexposure, these tracks bring a fresh new light to his playing.
I'd love hear his QR stuff isolated like this.

glad i could find more people interested in these master tracks
. i have a collection of master tracks myself such as iron maiden, megadeth's rust in peace and peace sells albums, judas priest, etc. and they're on my youtube page: http://www.youtube.com/user/magicsfive5?feature=mhee as well as free for anyone to download the mp3s here: http://www.mediafire.com/?cbcll86bi57ig so you don't have to go through the trouble of opening them with audacity, just play them mp3s with your favorite media player.

Listen to OTM and on the left channel only of Randy's guitar during the chorus *i heard them tell me that this ect..ect.. and so on) It's basically just a bunch of noise behind the chords, sounds like he hit the chord then very very lightly did some scratchy 16th notes on the bass notes of the chord. Pretty cool!
