Just reading the above paragraph would intrigue people enough to buy the book! Grover almost sounds a bit snobby, you know? It was embarrassing and he didn't want to hear it, as if Randy was being unprofessional. Randy was young. I'm sure that's not the worst thing that's come out of his mouth.
Grover ... lucky bastard was at the Diary dress rehearsal and probably had no idea how incredible it was to be there.
Well it's not the first time band members have had to be pushy to be paid Bernie Torme, Brad Gillis, Rudy Sarzo, i was going to mention Bob & Lee..... But some people's eyes may roll. But in business everyone has to be paid and the money is not always paid in cash, waiting for cheques to clear and wages which need to paid out to the crew. I think Dave Tangye even hinted about being paid late in his interview.

I cancelled my order with Amazon Canada as soon as I saw that Amazon UK had stock and ordered from them instead. It only took a few days to get here, and didn't hardly cost anymore either! But it looks like Amazon US has it now:
I bought the book from a company I trust and have purchased from before. I'm sure it's with many companies. The links were mentioned in earlier posts in this thread. Not giving anyone a hard time, but please read the thread.
Read the book and like most of us here I knew alot of it but there where a few surprises that was cool-The comment Grover made about the dough was new to me and I understand RR was probally tired of seeing Ozzy and Sharon blowing dough on drugs,drinking,watches,fur coats etc and the band members hardly ever seeing any money. Also maybe Randy was going to pay Jackson the rest of his money for one of his guitars he had made and did not have it all on him at that time.
Ordered the book today through Amazon.ca. Looking forward to reading this! I like that we're hearing other aspects of Randy.
The Grover comment is interesting. So what if Randy was being rude? Randy fans tend to over scrutinize his every action. Could he be an asshole? Probably. Just like everyone else is at one time or another. Remember, this was a guy that pissed in a drink one time and tried to get a waitress to drink it as a joke. Randy may have also copped a "Rock Star" attitude in this instance also - just saying. He was no angel, folks! We'd do well to remember that! I'm just as big a Randy fan as the next person, but I've no delusions about life on the road in a rock band, and what goes on. He was human, after all. An extremely talented human, but a human nonetheless. We all have our faults at certain times.
Keep in mind he had also been a professional musician for a while before this and most likely knew the score with getting paid (or not). Given the Ozzy camp's sometimes questionable business dealings with people, he may have been right on the money. Remember, Sharon's dad, Don Arden, was notorious for his strong-arm tactics with acts he managed.

I don't quite get what's so embarrassing or rude in Randy's comment, maybe his tone was nasty or something. Like most of us Randy too must have had bills and other expences to take care of. He was supposed to get paid and he hadn't so what's the deal? We'd have riots if people didn't get paid on payday without a reason. In similar situation I'd be the first one to make that kind of comment to my boss.

I hope you're not missing the point. No one is claiming or thinking that Randy was an "angel". No one's an angel or perfect. I don't think we're scrutinizing Randy's every move. I was pointing out Grover's reaction, not Randy's comment. Yes, I agree with everyone, there is nothing wrong with asking for a paycheck in front of someone, regardless of how acerbic it did sound at the time. I wonder if Grover left out the part that he gave Randy a really hard time for not paying for his guitar. I'm not stirring the pot with rumors. Just kidding
