Yes Randy even said in interviews I have read that Ozzy said some of his initial solos he was laying down on BOO were crap. He had to dig deep for whats on those two albums. I don't think for a minute it was a cakewalk for him. I'm sure he was under pressure from the obvious differences in the material they were writing and what he had been playing before in QR.

Yes thanks for the correction, it was Breaking UP is a Heartache.

Did Bob also hang the moon?

I mean how much credit does this cat think he should get?
No lyrics = No songs

Of course Randy's playing was exceptional. I just wonder if he came up with all guitar parts. I never said anything to imply it's the Blizzard of Bob.

didn't mean it to be anything personal against you rhoads-fan. My bad if it sounded that way. Just seems like its always bob bob bob around here anymore. i'm sure bob helped shape randys playing on those records.. just feels like he wants us to think he did everything on those albums.

Lee Kerslake said that Bob "took Randy by the scruff of the neck" and sort of tutored him along and helped him. Here's the thing about Randy. It's clear from listening to those QR songs that Randy wasn't much of a songwriter. Phenomenal guitarist, but there are lots of great guitarists who can't write songs. I really think that Bob taught him a lot about song writing. It took Bob and Ozzy's tutelage to bring Randy up to the majors. Ozzy and Bob had both played in the majors. They knew what was and wasn't going to cut it.

I really think the leap in Randy's guitar playing from BOO to DOAM can be contributed to Randy's growth as a songwriter.

No no, it's all good axeman. I do understand where you are coming from as well. I just believe Bob and Lee got the short end of the stick is all. Randy, like it was mentioned before, was the least experienced member and probably was very opened to like minded advice.

Yes, it was Lee. I knew I'd read that somewhere and I couldn't remember who said it.

i was checking out michael schenker stuff on youtube after hearing about how great he was.Yeah he s very good. Then there was a utube link to evh stuff pre-78.No comparison, evh destroyed.EVH was a fish out of water in the good sense.MSG et al sound boring, generic almost.I had to think to myself if msg et al were so great in the 70s then evh must have made them cry cuz he was doing stuff that peeps probably wanted to do but didnt know how to get there.Nobody played/sounded like ed.

I think the only reason he's discussed so much around here is because he essentially gets no credit anywhere else!
I have never gotten the impression that Bob is taking more credit than he actually contributed. I mean, I have only ever heard him give credit where credit is due in terms of who contributed what parts to songs etc. Like Ozzy coming up with song titles and lines of lyrics. I have never seen Bob to make this band out as the 'Blizzard of Aus'. In fact he makes it out to be a four member group called the 'Blizzard of Ozz'. While the Osbourne's want you to think that it was Randy and Ozzy, with some hired guns.

Ozzy admits this all the time. I dont think anyone except maybe Sharon would argue differently.

This sounds pretty accurate.

It wasn't Lee who said that, it was Don Airey.
