This live cd fukin smokes!!! Mr. Crowley kills, especially the lick after "I hear the maidens' call..." it's definitely post Cleveland, because on RME during the main heavy riff (after "we must fight all the hate..." he hits the low E multiple times before he hits the E an octave higher. He kept this going into the Diary tour too. I remember first hearing the KBFH show on a double album boot called Stage Pass that also included a BATM show...when Randy played that I about shit because it sound so slamming!!

That 4 times on the low E and then the octave (on RME) IS pretty sick dude! I totally agree on that.

I'll have to take a listen tonight, but if I remember correctly - Tommy does double bass to match it.

Tommy - always BIG on the double bass. Lol.

Exactly my thoughts as well.....

However I know I am in very, very minority here....., but I don't like the guitartone that much on this new cd. It's the same sound he has on the Providence (Rhode Island) boot everybody seems to like, the overall quality is great for sure! But each time I hear the guitarsound I can't help to hear 'worn out' tubes. Even the guitarsound on Tribute (to me) sounds much better! As on most other '81 boots I heard.

That saying the whole new live cd sounds really strange to me..... also the drum sound: I do like the drumsound, t's Tommy for sure, but somehow it sounds too good (!) in combination with the rest of the band. It sounds like some modern 'addictive drums' samples. Maybe that's what they did: triggering modern 'samples' by using Tommy's original drum tracks. With nowadays technology it can be done easily..... So I really wonder what studio tricks they done to this recording? And not to forget Randy's playing itself that at times sounds really weird to me..... It already does right away with that weak intro slide at the very beginning of IDK. Is that Randy....? :?
So this new live cd is one big :?: to me!
I couldn't agree more.

I haven't had much time to listen to the record but even on first spin you can hear clearly how Randy's tone changes especially in the latter part of the record. SS and solo being the most obvious ones. Compare his guitar tone on Black Sabbath tunes and the first half of the "gig". Totally different.

The audience noise with clapping is clearly copy/pasted and sounds very annoying to my ears, FHA sounds sorta funny and unrealistic it being a heavy metal concert.

Unfortunately the whole record sounds copy/pasted to me. I think Tribute is way much better produced, the differences between different takes are a lot less noticeable than on this new one.

One of the funniest things on Montreal 1981 show is, for me- the beginning of the "Crazy Train"-solo, where Randy comes in bit early, it sounds just great! Same thing on Mr Crowley, on this new live CD... Randy was very much of a human yeah! no one is perfect, but for me- Randy´s playing is very close to that!
New boxset is great!!!

ive been thinking about it and i think a major thing contributing tothis is that ozzy's voice isn't all from one day, like it was with the rerecorded vocals on tribute. so they had to copy and paste over vocal errors from other concerts, one they will probably never release a full live 82 album (over the mountain) even if they had millions of recordings of ozzy in the 80s singing that copied and pasted, we would still have messed up lyrics and vocal flubs

I think ozzys vocals are from somewhere around the Cleveland show for most of the album. His voice sounds just like the unedited Cleveland show and must have been recorded by the same crew. There there are obvious parts where his voice is doubled throughout the show though wherever that came from.

I am happy they released a new show we never heard, but in all honesty I would have rather had the Montreal show officially released, it is a much better show IMO.

Who knows, maybe next year!

In trying to date the live disc to actual shows does anyone know when Randy started doing the killer sounding harmonic that turns into feedback just after the neck bend on CT outro solo. It happens at 5:02 on the new live disc. He does not do it on After Hours, Tribute, KBFH, or El Paso. He does it on the Milwaukee boot which is the DOAM tour. It's the only boot I have him doing it on. This leaves me to believe it's a DOAM tour show with the overactive keyboards removed. Thoughts?

True, I wonder how many mines on a cockpit that version of OTM would have.

Nobody noticed how thin and poor Randy's guitarsound is on this new live cd?
(compared to his usual guitarsound we can hear on the few really good quality boots)

Try this:
-Listen to the first 15 seconds of "Suicide Solution" from this new live cd. STOP.
-Now listen to the first 15 seconds of "Suicide Solution" from the Montreal '81 (KBFH) show.

Hear the difference.....

Question: which guitartone you like best?

I really like his tone and playing on the new live CD-especially suicide the song solo I love the "loose" playing and harmonics-he seems more at ease on this CD 8) And
