The live disc is freaking breathtaking. It just rips. I'm floored. This is IMHO the new "tribute" which begs the question what is the point of a "Tribute" reissue? I don't see how or why they would. Someone has already said how did they make it sound this good. It's really unbelievable.

Ive only heard Flying High again from it. I can see how they could clean the music up and add some thump to it.. What sticks out to me are Ozzy vocals.. They are just "too good". Im not sure how they did it. But something just doesn't sound right with them. They even sound weird (not in a bad way) over top of the music. Regardless, sounds like it smokes. Cant wait to hear the rest.

I THOUGHT THERE MIGHT BE SOME EBAY DEALS, NOPE. NOT A ONE.
Re: Talk about boxset here-Not for the faint at heart
I honestly don't see myself keeping mine after I watch it. Ill rip everything and then probably sell it.hansolo wrote:I THOUGHT THERE MIGHT BE SOME EBAY DEALS, NOPE. NOT A ONE.

Just the DVD or the whole set? I assume the whole set but if you wanna sell the DVD please let me know.

Theirs always point of tribute, just remember now we have two whole new live releases instead of one. Yes I prefer the box set one, I was floored aswell, it was amazing first listen through and it sounds more aggressive.distortionplus wrote:The live disc is freaking breathtaking. It just rips. Yeah, I'll always have a special place in my heart for Tribute. I must have heard that album 100 times over the years. I know every single detail of that performance. Every feedback moment, every cymbal crash, ect.
Let's just hope this new release opens the doors to future live releases. Then again, we're dealing with pretty much the same set list, so chances are slim that the Ozzy camp could (and would) make this happen.
But, PLEASE release a live version of Over The Mountain! PLEASE!!

Oops, I meant the Ozzy camp WOULDN'T see the value in releasing more live shows. Only the Randy fans would care ( because of his ability to improvise each gig).

Agree 100% with all of it. But we DO have OTM now (even though I'm holding my ground and havent seen it yet lol)
Again, I agree. Unless this box set sells like crazy.Only sales will convince the O camp that people want Rhoads material. It hasnt been marketed to a huge degree, so I dont think they will do all that well on it. But if they do as word of mouth gets around about the amazing stuff on it, they might realize "Hey, there are a lot of people that wanna hear this stuff" and start giving us more.AndrewT1976 wrote:Oops, I meant the Ozzy camp WOULDN'T see the value in releasing more live shows. Re: Talk about boxset here-Not for the faint at heart
I'm in a position where I can't necessarily afford the box set right now, but it's been loads of fun hearing everyone discuss it. I will buy the Blizzard Expanded and Diary Legacy CD's, but now am holding off after hearing about the audio glitch at the end of "Dee", mainly because my '95 masters serve me just fine. Ultimately though, I hope to buy both CD's and get my hands on the DVD and coffee table book separately - I'll put the book with my Jackson RR Tribute Book in my bookcase (along with Off The Rails, High Life and Tragic Death of RR, and Daisley's Book) and get a double CD jewel case for Blizzard and store the DVD with that.
I know in time I'll be able to get the book and DVD separately one way or another. Worst case, my 2nd Cousin works for Sony in Philly and we golf together July 22-24 up in Poland, ME. After a few happy hour drinks I'll explore what he can do, if anything.
Keep on sharing any and all of your opinions guys...this is great!

The sound on all of the cds is breathtaking...stunning. it sounds so much better than 95 cds. The whole box set is top notch. Its like a dream come true for me. Hopefully more to come but this is more than i could have hoped for even a year ago. Im really feeling the old magic again tonight.

I've been going through my box set all day today. I almost soiled my shorts when I saw the Diary footage ... 2 songs in their entirety from New Mexico! I've read in the forums about Rudy and Ozzy having most of the screen time for the Palladium footage. Randy is seen plenty though. The songs are cut because the guy had to change the reels. I don't care if it's not crystal clear ... it's f-n never-before-seen Randy Rhoads! It's cool to see Ozzy holding that image and placing it in front of the monitors. I always wondered how it got there.
A few people have mentioned they thought the book was nothing special because they have seen most of the photos. Well, I wasn't disappointed. Just because I've seen many of the photos, doesn't mean I don't want a nice high quality print of them in a book of my own. There are many that have never been shown before as well which is great, including a small photo of Randy during a Blizzard record signing. We've seen a couple of those photos of him in the purple shirt at the signing. The one photo shows him actually signing for someone.
The CDs sound great to me on my Bose headphones! It's cool to have After Hours on there even if it is slightly cut when Ozzy gets disappointed that he cracked during a note. It's really not cut that much. Some of the lyrics in the "book" are incorrect. I believe Bob Daisley has corrected some mistakes on his site. The Randy solo is not from Quiet Riot, it's just him jamming. It could have been while he was working on levels in the studio. It's very cool and the first opening riff is COMPLETELY NEW to me! It almost sounds like something that was used on Bark at the Moon. I don't know why the extended tracks weren't included on the CDs, but there are some in the documentary to satisfy my appetite for all things Randy.
The double-sided poster is Ozzy on both sides. It would have been nice with Rhoads on one side at least. I won't wear the cross, but hey, it's a collectible as part of the set.
I have to say I LOVE it and glad I now own the set! I'm enjoying and appreciating it very much. It's certainly better than not having it at all! If anyone's a Randy fan, I would think they would want to have this as a keepsake. I feel like I just received a Christmas/Birthday present in one.
+1
I love everything about this box set. The LP's are awesome to listen to too, Takes me back to my childhood bedroom.. Oh and the "After Hours" footage that everyone's seen on YouTube... Its just awesome to see on a 1080 HDTV Blows away the YouTube versions. They cleaned it up nicely
