Here is another picture of his Marshalls next to him and it doesn't look like he has them behind him. Looks like as the tour went on he had them moved.

I just found this picture also. Amps taped up near to what I believe would be the monitor board.

huh?? the live CD is on ITUNE????
Re: Hmmmm....
I don’t think the O's would use modern musicians especially in Randy's case.
Re: Hmmmm....
Im not sure what I think of some of these being from '82. The tone seems so similar in all of these, its weird theyre from different shows. Maybe all but FHA are from one date?
EDIT: Now I'm really paying more attention. SS is not the same tone as Mr. Crowley. Doesnt seem to be anyway, It has more grit and growl. So I retract my previous statement.

Re: Hmmmm....
bottom line.. THE LIVE CD IS THE CROWN JEWEL OF THE BOX SET!!!! It's Amazing!! Randy sounds great.. Ozzy sounds great.. but what makes is so good.. is the rythm section. the Drums sounds ungodly!!! its just quality EQ'ing folks. Whoever engineered this album desereves a milkshake. i really didn't think i would ever like an album better than i do Tribute... but this blows Tribute away.

I'm digging the new live cd too!
You gotta ask yourself, if this new live cd was released AS Tribute back in 87', and the Tribute show (Cleveland) was released in this box set, what would you be thinking?
My opinion is that the band sounds good and tight on this new live album, but I think Randy's performance on Tribute (Cleveland gig) was...well,...better. IMO.

Re: Hmmmm....
Actually, Tribute wasnt a very good performance by RR standards, IMO. Which is odd to say, since for many many years, it defined Rhoads for me. It was all I knew aside from the studio stuff, and I preferred the live stuff.
One thing that always kills me about the Cleveland show/BHS/Tribute is Crazy Train. He didnt do the gallop on the A. THats actually a big deal to me. I had never seen him live, and I only heard Tribute, so I assumed he always played it that way live. Always bugged me. Only more recently did I discover that show was an exception. There are other goofs as well. Listen to Mr. Crowley, lots of random noise in places as he seems to not know what to play, rather than his usual confident, blazing, random fills. It was decent, but not representative of the real energy of Rhoads. Ozzy was confident he'd think Tribute was crap. Kevin said he DID say it was crap (apparently they heard it on the radio sometime after the show).
I still love that recording, but I think it's the audio quality and not the performance that made it so popular. I much prefer Minneapolis, Milwaukee, Providence, and Long Beach for a real kick ass Randy show.

Suicide IMO is a diary tour track as is crowley except the solo spot as indicated-the cd just rocks, I'm blown away the more I listen.

Right on. Besides the shows you mentioned, when I really want to take in a Randy performance, I listen to set one of the New York show, my fav.AceVader wrote:Actually, Tribute wasnt a very good performance by RR standards, IMO. huh?? he doenst do the gallop thing on alot of shows.. Even on After Hours
Re: Hmmmm....
He most certainly does the gallop on AH ............. *scratches chin* It isnt as consistent as the studio version, he does it a bit differently, but he does it. Cleveland he doesnt do it at all.fortress wrote:AndrewT1976 wrote:I'm digging the new live cd too!

Re: Hmmmm....
I'm hedging a bet here. Crowley is from a Diary show. Listen to the extended intro.

I thought the same thing, actually. But then some of the very early shows had an extended intro as well.
Re: Hmmmm....
Here's a thought: Maybe they had this album as a back up to Tribute and Ozzy Re Recorded his vocals back in the day. Now with modern tech, they can really eq and mix the hell out of it.
