Re: SPOILERS - Talk About The Box Set
Why is everybody so afraid to say anything about this? I mean, the people that bought it already bought it and they already have a pretty good idea what they are going to get. Besides, watching it is really the big thing. If someone posted something like "Holy crap! There is a full pro shot Diary concert included!" the experience wouldn't be spoiled for me that's for sure. The RR community is really a funny bunch of characters...
Posting vids on the net on the other hand is different. I'd be pissed about that if I paid for it...
IMO, talk is fine even if it is a "surprise"... video or audio evidence isn't... even though I'm dying to see and hear it and no store near me is carrying it. That Record Store day thing is a joke...

The only thing I would comment on the Palladium footage until most of you get yours is that you do see quite a bit of Rudy, nothing against Rudy though. But I was a bit surprise based on what we saw in the trailer on the NMB bits.
I love Rudy as a person/human being, he's a nice guy and really cool. But i can't stand watching him as a performer. That standing in one spot, bobbing your head up and down without stopping and licking your fingers REALLY gets old after, i'd say about 1/2 song. 15 songs of it really grates on your nerves.

ya, certainly not what i expected. People have been talking about it for months. This "spoiler" page should be 25 pages right now.
Re: SPOILERS - Talk About The Box Set
I've seen it twice now. And listened to the live CD twice. If you want me to elaborate -- I will. There's one reason why we all visit this board -- in support of Randy's legacy. BUY IT, support the fact that you'll get all this stuff in the best format possible.
I LOVE IT! SO HAPPY. 5 or 10 years ago we would have bit someone's hand off for this stuff. I would have paid $2000 for the NYC footage and now I get it for $150 and a live CD and 2 great DOAM live performances.
Over to you all. I can review it - blow by blow.

Re: SPOILERS - Talk About The Box Set
yes do we have camera on Randy when he did his solo??
Re: SPOILERS - Talk About The Box Set
LOL, maybe one of the lamest spoiler threads yet!
But really though, my main question is this: did they put all the best parts of the RR footage in the previously seen previews? I hate it when they do that with funny movies, put all the funniest parts in the trailer and then the actual movie is a boring waste of time.

YES PLEASE DO!! That's what this thread is all about!! BTW, I (and I think most others here at UR, are 100% onboard with you regarding supporting the BoxSet (and all things Randy).richemms wrote: I can review it - blow by blow.

Re: SPOILERS - Talk About The Box Set
Spoilers:
The book alone is worth the purchase for me. LOVE LOVE LOVE all the great RANDY pics! It has tons of Randy pics and it is LP album sized. Really happy with it!!
DVD:
The main documentary is awesome and has tons of good stuff with outtakes in the studio and Ozzy seems really genuine. The interviews are great and I liked what Nikki Sixx says. It is shorter than I expected or it just goes by so fast because it is so good. I was wanting more at the end. I cried at the end also. I have not cried in years. Randy's death still to this day hurts me so much.
In my opinion the Palladium footage is just ok, but "just ok" speaking of Randy footage is awesome because ANYTHING halfway decent of Randy is RARE and we all want to see it. So is it worth seeing? YES.
For me it is like being at the concert and sitting off to the left on Rudy's side and looking across the stage over at Randy being the furthest away. It is like you are at the concert and you have good seats near the front but not right up by Randy (which is where you want to be). It is unfortunately very frustrating when the camera doesn't show Randy when you want it to. It does show him alot but not like we would film him knowing all his guitar parts. There are some good parts though. I have watched it 3 times so far now and I like it better each time I watch it. Don't expect super clear pro quality because it is not that. It cuts in the middle of the parts so be prepared to be yelling at your tv about that. I assume the super 8 reels ended and he had to reload. He plays 3 of his guitars. Polka V, White Jackson V (C), and of course his Les Paul. It leaves you wanting more but I will take it as it is and enjoy it for what it is.
The After Hours footage is the best I have ever seen or heard it. The whole complete After Hours is there so we finally get the "official" release of that. Sound quality is definitely better than my bootleg DVD I bought a few years ago. Just having this look and sound as good as it does is AWESOME!!! So this is a good thing even though most of us have probably already seen it. Now we have the "definitive" version of it (unless the other camera angles footage surfaces).
I will continue this in a minute. Gotta grab a vitamin water from the fridge and take my dachshunds out.
