We are thankfull that this is coming out. But when you have someone like Randy and there is minimum to nothing out there for us to enjoy its depressing and hard to believe. I still say there's more and people are holding out. Your talking demos, outtakes, jam sessions. We want that stuff. I know I do.

Re: Am I the Only One...
It's funny, as I think back to the mid-80's and there was some vinyl boots out there to buy like BHS and freelance photos and of course what coverage there was in the rock & guitar mags, but that was it...it kind of was what it was and we put it out of our minds.
For years I've been content with the collection of photos and magazines I've accumulated, as well as the four studio and one live album that Randy played on.
Does anyone my age (44) remember when the AH footage began to surface for sale/trade on VHS?

I did not get to see After Hours until about 1990 I believe. I got a copy on VHS through a guy who got it from a hot local guitarist by the name of Tony Spinner. I am 48 and have been a rabid fan since shortly after BOO debuted. I also had a cassette of QR I&II with "You Said it All" on it prior to the release of Tribute.
After Hours was like finding the Holy Grail at the time for me. I sat there mesmerized, and in awe!

Thanks D, you and me both...that sounds like about the same time-frame as me. I think I found it at a rare record vinyl show, shortly after I got back to the States after serving overseas.
AH was, and still is awesome.

Re: Am I the Only One...
I first saw it in Spencerport, NY in '86, my friend Dan had a copy - He got it through older (than us) guitarist named Duane who tells the story about meeting a guy at a hotel bar who shot After Hours. He eventually gave me his tape because I would beg to see it every time I came over! I never thought to copy/sell it! When I went to a record show in '94 and bought a compilation VHS, I couldn't believe that there was other things with Randy on video.

Re: Am I the Only One...
The AH video tape has a very special meaning to me.
I bought it in 1992 at a record convention in the suburbs of Chicago, and the tape was terrible quality, but I remeber paying like $20 for it. I came home and watched it at my parent's house (I was a Sophomore in High School at the time, and was obviously still living at home).
I had just gotten into the 3-month zone with my very first girlfriend ever. Her name was Janine. She kept calling and asking me to come over, and I was like, "I am watching this really awesome video tape I bought." She kept calling, and calling, and calling. Then she said, "I'll order Pete's Pizza." Pete's Pizza was one of my favorite local pizza places, so I was like "Ok, fine." So, I went to her house, in her basement, and threw the video tape in her VCR right away and started watching it again. She literally got on top of me and started dry humping me. This was my very first dry humping experience, and I was obviously loving it, but I remember STILL watching the AH performance! She was totally frustrated, and she eventually stopped and had to go pick up the pizza. So, while she was getting the pizza I continued to watch the video, and when she got back, I had the pizza, and believe it or not, I re-wound the VHS tape and watched it AGAIN. I was totally NOT interested in more dry humping. She was so upset. Poor girl. I haven't spoken to her in almost 15 years. But, everytime I watch AH, it conjurs up the same emotions everytime - pizza, dry humping, and my first time seeing Randy play.

Re: Am I the Only One...
I first saw it on a ad in Metal Edge Magazine. I paid Rockabillia $50 for a copy when i was 13 years old and waited almost 3 months for it. I had to call the better business bureau and everything. Disappionted when I first started watching due to the poor video and audio quality but let me tell you.. like the rest of you, I wore that tape out. I also ordered a couple of Randy posters, 2 T-Shirts and a Randy watch. I still remember the day it all arrived I was home from school for a snow day.
Rockibillia was the awesome... Just took forever to get your shit.

Dude, I love Randy more than anything but there is a time and a place. But, I understand if you had that urge to see Randy was more than your sexual urges... I actually gave my first girlfriend (first piece of ass) my autographed copy of Blizzard of Ozz so, I feel stupid too. It is a little juxtaposed. I think I would of "finished her off" then watched the VHS... Just an idea!AndrewT1976 wrote:The AH video tape has a very special meaning to me.

Yeah, I hear you man. It was such an interesting contrast because the excitement of "getting some" was coupled with the excitement of seeing Randy play for the first time. But yeah, to a 16 year old kid, the joys of adulthood were fresh and new.
You gave away your signed copy of Blizzard? Dang! Did it have Randy's autograph too?
