Sony Now Owns Phoenix Footage?!!!
Just heard through Paul Bahmra on the FB page that Sony now owns the rights to the infamous Phoenix brothers' footage?!!!! So perhaps they are gearing up for some sort of Randy Tribute release next March then??!! I would imagine the extended YCKR and Tonight solos will then be released as I had my suspicions after they pulled them from the boxset.
Let the speculation begin!!

Re: Sony Now Owns Phoenix Footage?!!!
I think the Osbournes still have to get all of their duckies in a row with Bob & Lee first for any of the extended audio to make an appearance.
I'm waiting to see what Paul from FB has to say about how he found this out.
Like I replied there, there would have to have some sort of release where Randy was the focal point: Some sort of Tribute anniversary package would be the best and only opportunity I can think of.
The AZ footage is only of Randy...Ozzy is seen when he wanders into the shot and that's all. None of the rest of the band is seen, I'm guessing. They have to still find the audio to go with and get that cleaned up, fix Ozzy's vox, etc.
If we don't see it soon, then Sony only acquired it to prevent it from leaking to the public.
The window for releasing anything related to Randy Rhoads is beginning to shrink. Next March is the 30th anniv of his passing and the 25th for the Tribute album...Hopefully there won't be 35th anniversaries, or 40th, etc...
I would say folks have about ten months to square things away and release what they have, otherwise you look like a jerkoff, rubbing your dick on this guy's memory just to make a buck or two.
If what Dave Tangye said was true about an east coast BOO show being pro-shot, why would Sharon use amatuer footage for this box instead? This is/was the perfect opportunity for that, but now I have to wonder if the guy was just blowing smoke?

Whenever I put on Blizzard or Diary, what a wonderful, delicate furious beast.... I MISS you, man!
Re: Sony Now Owns Phoenix Footage?!!!
I agree, if there is every going to be a dedicated Randy release next year is it. And i think that is what is unfolding now. The documentary will get release along with something regarding footage..Hopefully they found a boot of the Phoenix show to go along with the film.
Sony won't just hold onto it for no reason, they had to have paid for it and will want to make there money back one way or another. I believe we will get the unfaded YCKRNR on the Rockband game, I doubt tonight will be on there but if it is great!

I don't get it why buy the footage if theirs no sound. Is there something we are missing?
Re: Sony Now Owns Phoenix Footage?!!!
because there are tons of bootlegs out there that it could be sync'd up to..We may not have the Phoenix show boot, but it is most likely out thereAxian wrote:I don't get it why buy the footage if theirs no sound. Is there something we are missing?

Re: Sony Now Owns Phoenix Footage?!!!
this is great news! i hope they release it, the probably have a recording of pheonix audio or they wouldn't of gotten it, unless they're gonna sync it with another show. this will be great because the palladium footage is kinda iffy for me because from the clip weve seen there is not gonna be much randy, but pheonix apparently is on randy the whole time!

Maybe the interest in this 30 Min of Palladium footage showed them how much interest there would be in a complete Diary show

Don't get too excited fellas, if you click down further in the original Facebook posting you'll read this from the OP:
" I read that sony bought the rights to it from the brothers somewhere on the net.cant recall where...............it may have been the mag that starts with a R......"
So in other words all we have to go on that Sony bought the Phoenix footage is that this guy "read it somewhere on the net". And he can't even remember where. Oh boy.
Hope it turns out to be true but....

Re: Sony Now Owns Phoenix Footage?!!!
doesn't sound like there's a shred of truth to this whatsoever. If i had to guess, i'd say there is nothing.

Let's hope we got something here.
Re: Sony Now Owns Phoenix Footage?!!!
