Which guitars on which tracks

Does the info exist showing what guitars Randy used on which tracks on BOO and DOAMM? Also does anyone know how long the outro-solo really lasted on "Tonight" from DOAMM? Seems like I read an interview with Max Norman where he stated it just kept going on for awhile after it completely fades out on album.

most songs live were played with les paul.. white concorde was tuned down.. so believer, flying high, and over the mountain. for the longest time the pdv was thought to be only played on suicide solution and mr. crowley.. but in the new footage it shows no bone movies and the pdv.. the black jackson was for flying high in the later part of the diary tour and thats it i believe.

theres a list somewhere but i dont want to try and search for it.. lol

I know that in the Marshall 1959rr signature head manual, where they have the picture of Randy's hand written set list, next to each song he has what guitar he would use.

What I find interesting and puzzling about it is that has written that he would play Suicide Solution with the "spotted" guitar, then play the solo with his Les Paul and then switch back to the PDV? Or continue on with the Les Paul? Since we know he used it during I Don't know, it would seem he used the quotations for the Les Paul. But since he specifically wrote down "Change To Les Paul" Implying it was for the Spotlight Solo only?
But remember this was live, would probably different for the studio versions.

The most likely scenario is that he would have done his solo proper with the PDV and after Tommy's solo use the Les Paul, as he would probably not have enough time to change guitars in the the segue to GTR.

Thats a Diary setlist, so his solo, Tommy's, and the bandjam would have been all lumped- so it makes sense that he would switch to the les paul after his solo and then play the band jam with it into GTR. Its cool that he was referring to his customs as charvels, and that next to Flying High Again he wrote out 'NEW ONE,' meaning, I'm thinking, the black one.

He played Suicide, his solo and the bandjam with his PDV. During Tommy's drumsolo he switched to his Les Paul and finished the bandjam with his Les Paul.



It looks he played "No Bone movies" here on his Les Paul though.
Also notice on the left of "Flying High" it says "Charvel" and "New One" on the right, so I guess he used his Black Jackson there! Thnx for sharing this pic btw!

I can't for the life of me remember where I read it, but I read that he used his LP for the rhythm sections of the music and used his PDV for the solos.

It explains why you can hear a bit of tremolo on the solo in Crazy Train.

It could of been layered. One track fingers and another track vibrato (wang) bar? Randy loved that slightly off sound! He mentions it in several articles.

I have no idea what Randy did in the studio but when recording it is very common to use 2 or more guitars in the process. One will sound great for this and one for that. But mixing 2 or more together will give you a more full sound on your rhythm than playing one guitar or multiple tracks.

Not saying hansolo is wrong.. But I would believe that Randy would use the warm tone of a les paul for rhythm and the high end of the PDV for the leads no problem.
