You mean at 00:53 in the (unedited) Blizzard trailer?
For sure I see a 'person' in front of the stage. (outer right bottom in the screen at 00:53) It would be a very good sign if that was filmed during the tour!

(and if they even have stuff like that 'Happy Birthday' shit, well...... )

who knows, the same guy that filmed the Happy Birthday thing could have just filmed just tiny bits of everything while on tour, maybe he just went side stage for a few minutes one night during a show and started filming. I can picture that happening..

*EDIT* never mind i was informed that the guy who filmed happy birthday was not around other than that party most likely

Also, if you notice the beer cans?, paper banners and other such stuff that was thrown up onto the stage. You can see Ozzy looking down on the stage for sec....

Just an observation, the shot of Randy from the right side of the stage with the white pinstripe doesn't appear to be during a show (1:16). He is wearing the chain belt and it looks like a studded wristband, but it almost looks like a black tank top, instead of a vest. There only appears to be one source of light to his left, whereas during the other live footage, colored lights are pulsing all over the stage.
You can't really make out much else around Randy. Some people may be thinkinking spotlight solo, but he appears to be fresh out of the dressing room, as opposed to halfway through a show.
Maybe soundcheck, but they usually do that during the day in their streetclothes, right?
It's a real quick clip, so I'm just going on my own assumptions here...

I can see the reflecting of the amp's 'plexi' panel in background so my guess it's filmed during a show. I think this was filmed during the intro of Believer when it's a bit dark on stage like it was as well during the Palladium footage we have. That's why there is not much else to see except Randy. And he looks still 'fresh' because this was just the third song of the set. (assuming it's footage from the '81 Blizzard tour)

TAB, I know Iron already got you onto this at tk so thought I'd ask-any luck with figuring out when the Diary show was filmed? Looks like my top 3 guesses of San Fran, LA and Beaumont have already bit the dust so I'd love to know (no biggie if it's impossible to work out-I guess RR wore that outfit at plenty of shows).
Hi Gus, what makes this paladium show exceptional is that YES yjet played loads of shows in 1981 but Ozzy wasn't a solo star until that tour gained momentum! the paladium show is one of the first shows he played, the band had only played about 6 shows prior to them showing up in NY.
Hi Ian, yes, very true, Ozzy was still working his way back up at the time...and I always thought it would've been Oz wanting to have NY filmed cos it was a big deal to him personally, but the story is this new footage was from a college guy who did it without permission  . I'm so freakin happy that some fans put their fear of security to the side back then to do this. Haven't been this excited about a new release since I was a teenager :D

Crumbly, this is interesting....I've seen it listed on a couple of sites that Ozzy def played Fresno on 3rd January 1982, but this date doesn't show up on many lists? At least one person (maybe your friend?) has posted that they were there and they're convinced they saw a camera crew. Yeah, would be cool if someone could come up with some photos or even a promo poster for this gig.

You're welcome!
btw: forgot about this, it could be one of those '82 B-shows as well (Beaumont Texas?) where there was no castle as well and Randy's amps were directly behind him. In that case it could be filmed just before they started the show with Over the Mountain.

*If the O's have tracked that college guy who filmed Palladium, then there is a chance they tried to track the guy who filmed the Texas Soundcheck as well......

Beaumont is a strange situation. I'm baffled as to how anyone that wasn't part of the organization was able to walk around, in plain sight of everyone, with either a Super 8 or video camera.
It can't be news or media people, as what they got is pretty dull stuff, even to a hardcore fan, as the majority is footage of stagehands.
It isn't as though it was a camera phone, or some piece of morden technology. Folks had to know what this person had in their hands and what they were doing.
I've never really heard of anyone getting backstage passes that granted access to equipment load-in and soundcheck.
For the length of the footage, it's obvious the road crew, sound and lighting and band saw this person, but disregarded them.
This is why I think it has to be someone working for Ozzy. Whether it's Ozzy himself or Sharon, (as the camera spends a lot of time lingering on Randy, despite the failing daylight.
I mystified as to why this person burned up so much film on load-in and soundcheck, which is pretty unspectacular.
You would think they would have filmed the actual show. I think they did.
Again, Dutch, good call on this probably being a b-show, as it appears to be Randy's stacks behind him.

it was probably shot by a person working the venue in concessions etc.,security themselves, or a member of the roadcrew.
@ the corpus concerts i used to attend security outside was more concerned w/ weapons & dope than cameras.

I'm sure Ozzy played alot more gigs then the press got to hear about. I'm still finding out about the UK 1980 dates. If i went off what i've seen in the press i'd only be looking at 18 dates. Ozzy did a total of 33 confirmed dates on the 1980 UK tour. Some got cancelled and rescheduled and speculation has even mentioned gigs that never even happened.
So the USA and Canada dates will be missing alot of dates, i can guarantee that. One thing that has always puzzled me is that no one knows when they played as 'The Law'. The venues are sketchy and the dates are a mystery, even to the band members ?.

Yeah i'm going with the same feeling that this was filmed by a member of the crew or someone from a Japanese fan club.
Anyone who had 'no fear' of being thrown out of a gig for taking photos or filming back in the 80's. If the bouncers or stewards seen you doing this they'd take the film from you and at worse they'd ask you to leave. Most of the gigs i photographed i never got any problems, i just had to be careful and have eyes in the back of my head. If you got into the show for free it was a bonus, and if you got thrown out, well! that was the risk you took. It was gamble to take any cameras or recording equipment into a venue.

I think Rudy mentions Fresno ONCE in his book. But it was Randy's Toothache story. They canceled the show but rescheduled it for January 3rd 1982, I believe. My brother still has the newpaper clippings from both tours when they came to Fresno. Plus, my friend and his brother BOTH saw the Dairy concert on January 3rd. His brother really wanted to see Randy, so his was able to get front row and Randy's side. I asked him about Randy and all he said was, "Man! That dude can play fast!" But my friend remembers seeing a camera crew there filiming. Maybe it was just the local news crew there? I really don't know. Maybe the Dairy Footage we see in the trailer was just some local news crew filimg it for the 11 o'clock news?

You never know-maybe it was filmed but the trail of possession might've gotten muddy over the years. If 1 pro camera I'd think just local TV, but if you're friend saw a few cameras then it could be the real deal. There was a member years back who said his friend worked for MTV in the early days-guy said they definitely filmed Ozzy/Randy but then RR died and they were forced to shelve it....I always thought it was weird that MTV went to film Randy getting his award at San Francisco a few nights before and filmed nothing more-maybe they didn't have permission for that night but I'm sure an MTV rep would've watched the SF show then told the bosses 'we gotta get this on tape.....'

Here's some food for thought, any trailer normaly includes the juicy bits of a film ok. So why is the new footage of Randy from the Diary tour so poor. When i say poor see how the camera has zoomed in across the stage and Ozzy is stepping into shot . So you have that clip and the clip that is mixed in amongst the Irvine Meadows footage. Does that not say something ?. Because it's not selling it to me if they did have a whole concert or at the least a single track filmed. You'd think they'd put a better clip of Randy in there ?. I'm not wanting to crush anyones dreams that this dvd is going to have loads of RR in it. But i wouldn't go with the idea that we have 2 new films of Live footage remember they are using old stock film from After Hours and SOTD. Those are good enough quality without having to put some clips of poorly shot film of Randy in there. I think it's teasing us as fans to go out there and get it. I just hope the Palladium footage is worth $150.
