I would think if Ozzy's people went to the memorial with clips for the fans to see, they would have paid a visit to Delores as well, where she was unable to attend.
I wouldn't be suprised if she was given a copy of the Palladium show. If anyone could be trusted, it'd be Dee.

I think it's cool that Randy was inspired by a LIVING, Modern South American Composer from Cuba. Leo Brower's Studies are essential study material for anyone studying classical guitar.

Leo Brouwer was/ and is in a whole different level to heavy rock/metal etc! He had every right beginning proceedings regarding Diary Of A Madman. That was quite an oversight of Randy's to not just go the legal/official route and seek permission. It is so lifted it makes me smile!!

• Thanks Matt! I have to agree with you about Leo Brouwers “different level to heavy rock/metal” comment. If Randy had been studying a different piece it would have been interesting to see his “exploration” of say, Brouwer’s Danza Característica. He he…I could imagine Ozzy hearing Randy practicing that and saying, “That’s Great Randy! Now play that backwards and then we can use it for a song!” LOL!
• Someone else mentioned about Brouwer suing Randy for plagiarism. I say, go right ahead! Brouwer doesn’t have a case and here’s why: The chords and the notes Randy used are NOT copyrighted. Randy inverted, modified and DID NOT play the study verbatim. Heck, he didn’t even play the entire piece! Randy left out the final measures of the study. Randy was merely “exploring” the piece to make it his own. Take for example, Manuel de Falla – Homage to Claude Debussy. De Falla incorporated some of Debussy’s music into the Homage. De Falla used fragments of Debussy’s "Soiree dans Grenade".
• Final point, plagiarism plagues EVERY medium. Music, Art, Movies, Books, etc. That’s reality. It’s called exploring one’s inspirations. Motet composers were “inspired” by PRE existing Gregorian chants. Their entire motet was based on some else’s song or melody. Like a variations on a theme.
• And they put their own name on it. Thomas Morley’s Motets for example.
• But playing some else’s music verbatim and saying you wrote it…IS plagiarism! Randy didn’t play Brouwer’s study verbatim.

I was doing the washing up and thinking about chord progressions and someone saying to me once, that you can legally lift the chords of a song and not be breaking any copyright laws; so as it is just the chords re arranged, I see what you mean, maybe Leo wouldn't have a leg to stand on! I think what would had made it an interesting case was that the chords Randy copied wasn't a run of the mill progression, but something quite exotic and that could have no way been stumbled across 'by accident'.
