Sandoval Polka Dot V Copies

I am happy that Tim's guitar has brought joy to so many. I was one of the first to receive the guitar and post a review of it. I hope many more people decide to order the guitar for their very own. I had a lot of fun modding my guitar with larger bow tie inlay fret decals, a chrome toggle switch plate, Dimarzio pickups and a solid chrome tremolo. Some people love the guitar the way it is and thats great. But the sound of the guitar is what sets it apart. I have seen many gorgeous guitars that play and sound like crap. But for $750...seriously this guitar plays better than any guitar I have ever owned and sounds so freaking outrageous through my Marshall halfstack. Axeman, way to rock the axe, brother. I am glad to see you are enjoying the guitar as much as I do. Sure, GMW's may be more accurate as far as looks, but its also nice to be able to save $1300 and not have a brand name on it. Thats also whats nice about it, nobody but us knows where it came from or who made it, unless we tell them. Mine has several times been mistaken for a Sandoval, and I took that as a major compliment!

Thanks man.. i really appreciate that. i would like to get a solid chrome tremelo for mine also. Believe i will do that. But i kept the pickups that came with it. I had the idea that if i didn't like them i would then put the Dimarzios on it. But i have to say they sound really good and they sound very close to the Dimarzios. i think that was the most shocking part of getting the guitar, finding the tone to be so close. I bought some white volume knobs cause that was what i originally wanted. After receiving them... i kind of realized why Randy changed to black knobs. The white knobs kind of cheapend the look of the guitar. I already had the Jackson offset V with polkadots. the PX10 I think.. I liked that guitar but if just never took the edge off my want for a full V. I enjoy this guitar sevenfold over that one. And it sounds and plays way better.

Really glad to hear it Josh, and it looks awesome! Thanks for the pics and evaluation. Those cheap pickups were one of the most surprising aspects for me too! I only have one of them in the neck position (got a Dimarzio Super Distortion in the bridge position), so I was curious if it sounds as good in the bridge position. I'd like to know what these things are!

You'll have to add a performance video from one of your gigs with this guitar to your YouTube channel.... I'd love to hear how this thing sounds when played by someone who actually knows how to play!!

Well, it certainly is inspiring me to get better at playing anyway. It's been about 6 weeks now with it, and the honeymoon still isn't over... still freaks me out every time I walk into the room and see it up on the wall.

Same here!!!! I'm amazed everytime I see it. It is much nicer in person that any of the pics online. I put a chrome toggle switch on it last night. Looks great. I still need to get an all chrome tremolo bar for it. after that i'm set.

I will def put up a performance video soon. We didn't record anything this past weekend. We are actually in the studio working on a new album so we aren't playing live again till Feb 4th. But I am sure we will record some of that show. I will post something so you can hear how good it sounds. i have had a jam session everynight since i got my guitar 1 week ago today. Usually playing along to Blizzard like i did when i was 15. lol

Nice vid. Guitar looks great! What are your settings on the pedals if you dont mind? Sounds like your tone is pretty good there. Do you have any vids of you playing with out background music, to hear the tone better?

I think I am going to save up for a Concorde when Tim comes out with them.

I have my Distortion + set to Full Distortion and 45% output. And the MXR 10 Band I have set to what halorising had his set to, I will post up a picture of my settings. Thanks for the compliment, I am surprised the background music was louder than my amp, I had the camera on top of my Marshall lol. And I wanna get the Concorde too, definitely.

Do you think there is a difference in the original 70's/80's EQ you have pictured there or will a newer model work just as well? They have the same freq. adjustments. Same for the Distortion +.

My thinking is I shouldnt have to have the same era pedals/eq to get close to Randy's tone. I think I can get close with the newer, easier to find MXR gear. I seen the youtube vid of the Zeus pedal board and that thing nailed the tone with a MXR 6-band eq, and a micro chorus! I know I will never get Randy's exact tone cause I aint Randy. But it is cool to play those riffs in a tone thats close.

BTW Has he mentioned any more news about the Concorde? When its coming out how far along is he on the details ect.?

The era of MXR Distortion + pedals shouldn't matter much, I hear there isn't a whole lot of difference in sound, but I read a few places that the newer MXR Distortion + models have higher gain and treble.

I made a new video just now, with no backing music, just the guitar in action with my Marshall JMP and effects pedals. This should give you a good idea about how great the guitar sounds. Enjoy!

Sounds great, thanks for posting this!! Makes me want to grab it off the wall right now! I can't wait to get a break from work soon, so I can upgrade the licensed Floyd Rose to an original model and set it up a little more to my liking. I may still swap out the generic neck pickup with a Dimarzio, even though I like the sound of it - just so it matches in color with the Dimarzio in the bridge position. The color difference is subtle, but noticeable. I just love this guitar, and really can't wait to make it even sweeter yet and have some quality time with it!!
