I have read quotes from both grover and kelle saying there were NO more guitars being made for randy...so who really knows. Hopefully we will get to see the vault one day because kelly has mentioned that randy had 2 other les pauls (one being the black beauty we all know about)

It's very coincidental, if I have this correct, that the guy who owns Randy's 3rd proto, is the same guy that sold it on Grover??? What did he sell it for (to the first guy)? What does Grover think about this? Awesome guitar. I remember the Randy Rhoads remembered '84 guitar world where Grover had said it was accidentally sold at a Namm show and didn't know it's whereabouts.

grover had 3 more guitars for randy in the works before he died.. randy never played them.. the white one that was finished and sold... a black one with a floyd and another one i cant think of the color.

it could be that he mentioned having more guitars for randy to increase his profile I guess.....

It's likely he had more made so that he could work out all the "kinks" in the guitar. The Concorde had it's problems, so Randy had another one made. It's possible that one had its problems, so he had more made. Or he had more made with different things put in them. (Wood, bridges, pickups, whatever)

Right, so it's possible he wanted one with a Floyd Rose on it.

I don't know who would want one of them on it. I have one on my Douglas and it screws all the tuning up. If it does go out of tune, you have to use the tiny tuners on the Tremolo to tune it... which is a pain in the butt :fish: . If one of those tuners stops going down, you have unlock the string locks at the top of the fret board, and then reset the tuners on the Tremolo... then all your strings are out of tune. Then you have to tune it with the tuning pegs, standard tuning, and then put the string locks back on... finally, you have to tune the guitar again with the Tremolo tuners to make sure you're in tune. It's a very annoying process, and it eats time. I can't see Randy doing that... unless the Floyd's back then were better than the one's today.

I don't know WHY he would, I would just assume he wanted to try it and see what it was all about. EVH used one a lot, and since Randy admired EVH so much, maybe he wanted to see what it was like?

not to mention it was the hot new thing. think in the early 80s and being able to slam on the whammy bar and not have it go out of tune as easy as a standard fender tremolo would.
