Randy's SG

Can someone give me the background of Randy's SG? What were the specs of it?

I dont think that Too,too much has been said about that guitar.
Kevin DuBrow said that that was the Guitar Randy played when they auditioned him for QR,& that Randy had such a heavy left hand Vibrato that it would Very often go out of tune.Outside of that I think Kelly Garni said that Randy had Sold it shortly after he got his LP. Hope that helps a little?

Now, alot of people where I go get my lessons at have these. Out of the 12-14 I see every Monday, 5 or 6 of them have this guitar, made by Gibson not by Epiphone. They have great sound and are comfortable, but it does go out of tune after a few minutes.

Something I noticed in the picture is the pick ups looks like p90s - which if they are, means that it was a Gibson SG special Randy owned. Nowadays The name Special is given to an unbound versions of the SG standard, but then they were the name for the 2 p90 equipped SG. This....it looks to be a late 60's (somewhere between 67 and 71, that's when the pickguard changed to the batwing style) one although pretty hard to tell without seeing the bridge

does go out of tune after a few minutes.

the wrap around bridges they had are a pain because its almost impossible to intonate
