If Randy were still alive...

Post by Destiny B »

Ozzy has had quite a few guitarists and, just recently, he has Gus G. I don't really no the whole story of why Zak Wylde isn't playing with him anymore, but since Ozzy has had these different guitar players, do you think, if Randy were still alive, Ozzy would have stuck with Randy Rhoads?

*If?*

He definitely would have left. He expressed great interest in leaving. He would have gone to college to get his classical degree at UCLA (?) and then he probably would have made a classical album, and possibly do other classical things. It's possible he would have returned to rock 'n roll, but it wouldn't have been with Ozzy's "circus" of a band.

I'm sure Randy loved Ozzy, but I seriously doubt he would have ever returned to Ozzy's band. He wasn't happy with the whole "circus" he had going on during shows, I don't think he liked the fact that Ozzy was getting shit faced every day, and he didn't really like the fact that it was "Ozzy's solo band" he didn't want to be known as a hired gun, he wanted to be in a band.

hey destiny..i think randy would have gone on to get his degree in classical guitar then would have done something like the trans syberian orchestra..check them out...aside from doing studio work and touring i think he would have maybe done a show or two with ozzy but i think he was done with the whole contract obligation and the circus as well..

Hey Destiny,

I think your question was, would Ozzy have kept Randy or would he have eventually got rid of him like he has all the rest, not would Randy have left. Given the Osbournes history, its probably safe to say with all of the attention Randy was starting to garner that eventually they would have gotten rid of him, Sharon just won't have anyone around who might be more visible than Ozzy. Sad to say that because without a doubt, Randy saved Ozzy's career, unfortunately things like that have never seemed to carry any weight with the Osbournes (especially Sharon). I do think at some point Randy would have at least played more shows with Ozzy, it seemed to be in his nature to be gracious and forgiving, and I think he would have been appreciative enough of his oppertunity with Ozzy to at least join him onstage for some shows.

I'm going on the same kind of view that all the past Ozzy members have been at the disposable hands of the Osbournes. But i would think Randy would of been very much like Bob Daisley as he has been asked on more then one occasion to come back into the fold to help with the 'new album'. So i'm sure if Randy had of left to do his own thing i don't think he would of shut the door on Ozzy. Unless he had total commitment with other projects. I could imagine him being very like Satriani touring playing his classical / Rock concerts with guest musicians like Schenker Moore West just to name a few. I think that would of been very much what he would of wanted.

Randy was teaching Ozzy how to stretch himself musically. For Ozzy it was like having a musical muse. Not only that, Randy was a kind, patient, and had a great sense of humor. Out of all of that I would like to believe Ozzy and Randy would of at the very least stayed friends even if Randy had decided to move on to other things. Ozzy was very lucky to find someone as talented as Randy. Randy was extremely lucky to find someone with so much drive to succeed as Ozzy. Chemistry at it's best. Randy would of moved on to classical things but believe it or not you still need a top notch manager in your corner that eats lightning and can crap thunder in the music business. Without Sharon's business sense we might have not gotten a DOAM theatrical show to remember. Remember the times...KISS was all about the BOOM. If you wanted to make a dent in the music industry you better be memorable. Ozzy and Randy? Damn memorable...

i think he would have kept playing with ozzy a little longer, quit, went to school, got the degree, played with quiet riot some more. then kept teaching at musonia. and possibly joined another band.

Hate to burst your bubble there, but I really don't think he wouldn't have played with Quiet Riot. At least, he wouldn't have made any albums with them. Kevin showed him the demos for Metal Health, and Randy said it was "just noise" Quiet Riot was more of a glam band, and Randy wasn't really into that. (As far as I know)

He would have stayed with Ozzy for 1 more studio album and the live album that was supposed to be. That's because of legal reasons, not because he wanted to. In fact, Randy had been apparently trying to get out of his contract so he could leave as soon as possible. He really wanted nothing to do with the circus Ozzy was putting on.

As far as most here know, Randy was going to leave Ozzy's band as soon as possible, go to school, get his degree, and maybe make classical guitar albums in a studio. Anything else is purely speculation.

I kinda feel Randy would have remained anonymous to the public, probably working as a studio musician with many artists, in lots of different genres. I think he may have pursued classical music as a solo artist/teacher to some extent. I cant imagine him staying put for long. If he did return to a band environment, it would probably be something with more depth than straight up rock.

I recall seeing an Interview with Garni and K. Rhoads and they both said Rhoads would have left no doubt. I even think Ozzy said he would have left.

I think Randy would have left but chances are they would have played together again because Ozzy has stayed current and to some degree always current, Randy was changing in style and technique andI feel that at some point with that shared history they would have colided musicaly.

I think Randy would have went to college and got his degree, I think he would have stayed out of the limelight for the most part and maybe been a studio musician.

Also, Trigger, nice signature, I love that song :) David Bowie <3
