Yeah, the Fischer Price Record Player,I got into music at a Very early age & had to get this on my 5th or 6th B-day in 84 or 85

this was the model :)

I Used to Steal my Brothers Blizzard & Diary records & a few Boots (which I scratched the shit out of) this was before Tribute came out,he got that on Cassette. My DOAMM or rather,my Brothers Diary, had a scratch at the end of YCKR&R during the Long fade out & it would skip at this one spot & just keep Looping until I lifted the Needle off the record. To this DayI Still hear that part Skip in my head EVERYTIME I hear it.Mabey I will make a Loop oof it & post it because it sounded really Cool Randy doing a big Bend or Dive & the Bass & Drum part already sorta sounds like a loop already! I cant believe how Similar that Bowie song is

I didnt hear that at 4.13 in Little Dolls????I think I know which part you mean though, its sorta like a Reverse Reverb thing where Ozzys Voice would sorta Fade-In Backwards.I think thats what you mean???

I know what record players were like and all, I'm just saying that particular model looks ridiculous to me.

When I think of Fisher Price, I think of little kiddy playhouse things and whatnot, not record players... lmao

HEY,i WAS A 5 YEAR OLD THAT WOULD STEAL MY OLDER BROTHERS RECORDS.Even then I had to have my Music! I remember listening to Over the Mountain on this & Imagining Mountains & shit,Then Flying High!!! I Remember Colors "My mind is Read" =Red & Mountains...& Bad Bad Boys,MaMas Gonna Worry parts I Understood! My Vocabulary was limited at 5 :P then YCKR&R --on the 2nd verse was where I used to think Randy was singing w/Ozzy ..Lol I didnt know about Overdubbing I thought bands went to a Special Magical Place (the Recording Studio) & They Jam & then its put onto a Record, like on some cartoon or TV show I saw when I was a Kid:) But I still remember the feeling & "Visions" I would picture in my head when I was 5 or 6 listening on my Fiscer Price!!!
I
figues Id Google it & it took me like 5 or 6 different links before I found the Exact Model I had & Im Tripping out seeing that, takes me back it looks just like I remembered!!! I dont even know what happened to mine?? Like I said earlier,When Tribute came out I was 7 & my brother got that & whatever else that came out on Cassette by then.I didnt start getting my own tapes/records til I was 9 or 10.

And Yes the Speaker was Under the Arm.The Cord Wound Under it & it Snaped closed like a Power Drill Case would & the Handle was built in to carry it,it was very lightweight from what I remember as a Kid you could take it anywhere (w/Electricity) It had 33 & 45 & the Piece in the Center for 7" or 45s was built in and would Twist up/down.It was Great as a kid,"MY" own record player.....lol

I Dont know how Good it "Actually" sounded? But to a Five year Old I used to play the beginning of side two-The Drum Intro to Little dolls Over & Over (same w OTM on side 1)

Nice story DMRX. I can remember as a young kid listening to my brothers records as well. I used to listen to the heavy guitar part at the end of Revelations Mother Earth over and over.

DUH duh duh duh DUH duh duh duh DHUM duh duh duh duh nlah nana oww.

Haha that’s the way it used to sound to me, good times.

So on the left is the volume and the right is the speed control and it looks like in the middle of the lid is where you would store the spacer for the different size holes in the records.

Yep, way back when you had no choice but to make due with what you had.
In our house, my parents had what was known as a 'Hi-Fi' system, which was essentially a record player inside of a long low speaker cab, dressed up to look like a piece of living room or den furniture. My brother got his own stereo when he hit 16. I inherited it eight years later, after it was passed down to the two sisters between us.
I know children, elementary school kids, who have cell phones, televisions with DVD in their bedrooms, MP3 players and gaming systems.
I'm glad I grew up in the 70's before all of this bullshit technology hit. I have a better appreciation for life and feel I am more fortunate because of it.

T.
Whenever I put on Blizzard or Diary, what a wonderful, delicate furious beast.... I MISS you, man!
