its pretty nonsensical to have 'secret' info that can't be stated publicly but can be passed in pms to any individual that asks.(pms which are apparently being watched by some numbskull, anyway, right?) the point being, if its getting passed in private to anyone who wants to know, its no longer secret or not public: if i share something with relative strangers via pm, i have also shared it with anyone they choose to share it with too... any of the now large number of people with the secret info could make a public thread anywhere they like!

all this private messaging hush hush details to anyone and everyone stinks of bullshit.

Actually, ANYONE can read the forums. People with agenda's, or whoever. Sending pm's to people who are members is a much safer way to talk to people. The only reason I'm not posting what I have learned is that I don't want to get Electric Angel in trouble. That's my reason.

If you don't like it, you don't have to learn the truth. That's your deal.

I think the problem is though that with a lot of all the BS over the years, there isn't A singular truth, only various people's version of it. My head has spun when I have heard all the inside details of various people on stuff like this in the past...in the end I usually just think; bunch of tarts LOL (me included ha ha)

I don't see how this is a rebuttal. If EA has information they aren't supposed to share, then sharing it with everyone and their dog in private message isn't 'not sharing.' If they have info thats ok for everyone to see, there's no reason to keep it 'private.' My point before was that pms aren't particularly more private than a public forum. I'm pretty sure EA thinks someone is reading their pms, so they least of all should feel that pms represent a good means of clandestine secret spilling/keeping.

To be completely honest, the time has long since past since I gave a flying fuck about the margolis documentary. I consider the likelihood of that project seeing the light of day pretty slim: if it does, it looks like its going to be amateur. margolis didn't have much of a record, and he's done a terrible job drumming up publicity and not offending every key party on the subject. The 'truth' isn't really a concern of mine: my concern is the chosen method of disseminating it.

I don't know WHY Electric Angel wants to keep this in pm's. I'M only doing it because, like I said, I don't want to get him into trouble. I don't want to be responsible for any problems that might happen. That's MY reason. If you want to know his, pm him. Until he says otherwise, I won't post ANY info about it in public.

I agree about the documentary. There will only be a couple reasons for me to watch it:

It's a documentary about Randy (Though, I don't know how much of it will be about him, my guess is it's going to be more of a "Who Was Inspired By Randy, And Let's Show Off" film.)

There are a couple interviews that I am interested in. I forgot the names, but Peter tracked down Randy's guitar tech (Ozzy Years) and interviewed him. I am highly interested in that because he has refused many interviews (Or he wasn't interviewed at all) and he has some incredible information about Randy that not many others would know. That and info on Randy's guitars.

I'll add more later.

The problem is that the majority of us on here have seen all the crap that has gone on since day one. the dogfall, romeo rose dramas, etc. To many on here, the doc has left a bad taste in their mouth

BUT, in the grand scheme of things, there are thousands upon thousands of randy fans worldwide that have ZERO idea of any of the background drama associated with the film, nor do they care. Those fans are going to be thrilled when the doc comes out with nary an idea that any of this shit ever hit the fan. For me, knowing all the backstories, and then seeing the doc come to fruition will be the icing on the cake, because there were quite a few people out there that tried to insert themselves into the history of Randy Rhoads via the making of the documentary. I loved PM coming on here and updating us with where it was. But then...almost on queue, the unstable fans among us started acting all douchebaggy and fucked it up for the rest of us.

I, for one, want to see it come out. Anything that brings Randy's story to the unknowing public...or to that kid that has just picked up the guitar for the first time and has no idea who Randy is yet.

With the wide array of people that were interviewed, especially the candid ones with Delores, Kelly and Kathy, Jodi and all of Randy's closest friends....who the hell WOULDN"T want to see their insight on Randy the person as well as Randy the musician?!? So what if the trailer that leaked had a mention of Randy banging some chick from the Runaways on the bathroom floor...I want to hear that shit!! It's not like Ron Jeremy is going to make a cameo appearance and tell us how he inspired 'No Bone Movies'.

Oh well. Just my two cents. I want to see it, but I understand there are others that have different opions, and I respect that. I just refuse to let the drama I've seen get in the way of seeing the doc on my flat-screen, surround sound entertainment system at home, while drinking a frosty, ice-cold Budweiser.

At the end of the day, I hope the family and those who Randy held dear are satisfied, and the man who directed the film is satisfied.
I will be pleased with the end result, as it is way more than I had on Randy Rhoads yesterday!
My thanks to the Rhoads family for making/letting this happen...my thanks to Dakota & Peter for getting it done. 8) 8)

P.S. dmnjr hit more than one nail on the head in his post...well said, Sir!

There is no need for the venom. Those that wanted to know were able to get some answers. As simple as that. I am using the PM's for two reasons.

1) They are working like they should be due to Joe's hard work.
2) Hearsay is not "truth" and in public forums allows for too much speculation and anger to erupt. Hearsay is information gathered by one person from another concerning some event, condition, or thing of which the first person had no direct experience. I wasn't there in other words. In legal terms hearsay is the use of such information as evidence to "prove" the truth.

dmnjr said something that is very accurate:
dmnjr wrote:But then...almost on queue, the unstable fans among us started acting all douchebaggy and fucked it up for the rest of us.
That is probably why we are left in the dark about many things. What little we do know we have to make up or speculate about. There are 3 long months till the release of the unseen footage. While Sharon has stated publically what is fact about the box set I have seen speculation go wild over what might be in them. Can you imagine if I started with hearsay and let the boards take off with it? I remember in school once where we did an experiment. The teacher would tell some fact to a student in the first row. All that was required of each student was to deliver/whisper that message orally to the next student that sat behind them. By the time the message reached the last peron in the back row the message had completely changed in meaning.

All the speculation started because of very poor information from those who are involved. People were informed a few years ago, finally something about Randy, everybody got excited, waited a long time, and then suddenly those who should know don't know anything???? Come on...., even if so, what's the problem with saying at least what the deal is? Of course people gonna speculate now, these boards are exactly for that!
(that's something PM should have realized before he went to these boards....)

I would say the trailer being posted here fucked up any future communication between Peter and the fanbase.
Even after Peter sent a very serious and demanding post, calling for the trailer to be taken down, it wasn't...for hours!
Those who run the site can do what they wish, of course, but no one here can really wonder why Peter is incommunicado, can they?
Folks could say that Peter should have handled it better, and that is true...Peter's people skills don't exactly rate high, but we want him to make a film about Randy Rhoads, not be a diplomat.
I was always under the impression the trailer was something that was put together to show the family and Dakota the progress of the project, as well as something used to present the film to potential investors.
Perhaps we would have seen a different version of it someday, but at the time, things hadn't fully cleared.
I can only imagine how pissed and scared I would be if I were in Peter's shoes when the trailer leaked.
Images of Elvis, Led Zep and Bowie...snippets of music from Ozzy, Led Zeppelin and Sweet.
Jimmy Page really doesn't lend out Zeppelin at all...for anything. If this got to him, he could have made a big problem for Dakota, and ultimately the fans.
Folks can say, 'Well, Peter shouldn't have used their music then', but again, I don't believe the trailer was for the world to see. Not at that point anyway.
How Romeo was able to dupe whoever it was at Dakota to give him a copy of the trailer is beyond me. That was their bad to begin with. Sure, I downloaded it....I didn't expect it to be up for very long at all.
Folks say things got strange once the project was announced and that is true. Assholes came out of the woodwork, the community became divided, people from Randy's past thought this would make a name or some money for them somehow...
Yet, it did a lot of good...Lots of unseen photos started popping up...even film footage! Lots of Randy's friends who lost contact with eachother after his passing, were able to reconnect.
I'd like to think that because of this film, more and more people have started to publicly question why Randy's two albums with Ozzy were altered...to the point of Sharon obviously having no other choice but to correct that stupid mistake.
So, to me anyway, the film has done far more good for Randy's legacy and loved ones than harm.
At one point, the fans were in a situation where we were getting progress reports directly from Peter, which was very generous and cool. The problem was, despite what Peter told us, it wasn't good enough for some and they only kept asking for more.
I appreciated the time Peter took, but would have rathered he remained working, as opposed to answering our inane questions.
After awhile, he had to be discouraged too, as it was getting to the point where all people seemed to want was a film full of footage and focus on his guitars, amps and gear.
All of that would be cool, sure...I'd love to see some rare footage too, but I was far more interested in the actual doc.
For years, it's been the same stories retreaded by Ozzy and Kevin, time again in the magazines.
Now we were going to hear from friends and family that no one ever bothered to interview before?
Yes, please and thank you!
Sadly, some folks had a falling out with Dakota and won't be participating in the film, which is to bad for them, us and Randy's story. We've heard their side of the story, perhaps someday, we'll hear the other side too, but for now, a lot of folk have drawn their own conclusions with only half the information.
Peter is not the enemy, but for some reason, we made him out to be one.
In a project that already had more than it's fair share of hurdles and problems, the fans wound up adding some trouble of their own.

A good rule of thumb is just to simply sit back and wait for whatever is officially announced or released. Anything said by people on the periphery is likely to be wrong or said with an agenda in mind.

Peter is likely to finish the doc and then promptly hand it over to the Osbournes. Think about it. If he doesnt have the Osbournes on board, then he really doesnt have much of a film. You can say all you want about how it would still be cool, but it would be absolutely stellar with the music that Ozzy, Randy, Bob, and Lee created!

Sharon and Ozzy will have the hype machine in full gear when the time comes you can bet.

It seems that lots of people from different angles are talking about new Randy stuff on the way. I personally believe that we wont see half of it. The Rhoads family has a way of putting the smack down of ill-conceived projects. And since the way the doc has caused so much controversy, I doubt we will see much of any new projects come forward. I hope I am wrong, but having been a Rhoads fanatic for the past 30 years, I know not to get too excited about any proposed ideas/projects.

I hope the upcoming boxset fills the empty space in all of our hearts and minds, and finally gives us Randy fans a real glimpse into the man he was.
