Ah Axeman, are you asking did he mike the stacks that we see behind him? Not a silly question at all.
There are more shots like this around, with amps of to the side of the stage that are miked, to Randy's left. Someone had come up with a rather plausible answer to this before, wish I could remember who it was, there is a older thread with this in.
Actually the shot that got my interest on this subject was a live one from the right hand side of the stage, Randy in picture with the miked amps of stage. To only be able to find that thread now.

No there is a older thread, last year? The picture is of Randy playing live and the amps to the left of the stage, you may even see a mixing desk behind them for fold back?

With Ozzy I've always seen him with mic'ed cabs behind.
I like this one, all his 4-holers in one shot:

Re: Did Randy Mic His Amp?
Yeah, a roadie or sound man probably did.
Re: Did Randy Mic His Amp?
Ah Dutchman those amps are not behind him but to the left of the stage. As you remember they used to reside in the castle arches, which would be directly behind him here. Then for the clean stage look the were removed from there. Even the cabs are slightly different here, all black cabs flat fours no slants.
Also he is plugged into the bottom head, top left hole I would hazard a guess at. Am I seeing the standby lights on the other two lite up? Even so where does this leave us with the cascading in the white head is it even being used I mean?

Re: Did Randy Mic His Amp?
Good morning Axeman
What we all are most used to seeing is the amps behind randy on stage yes, and they would have been micd sent to front of house and then PA'd.
What I think you are seeing hear is this, same deal as usual set up but just to the side of the stage. At some point during the diary tour they decided to have a clean look and removed the amps from the stage.
What is cool with the photos that you and Dutch have posted is that you can see a wee bit of what is going on with the amp setup.
Your picture, three JMP heads blacked out on slant cabs blacked out. Nearest to us looks like only top left channel in use. Far heads, both have left channels jumped. So where dose that leave us with the cascading mod? Marshall engineer Danny Thomas says that the RR sig amp is set up exactly the same as Randys white JMP 1959, this would mean that Mr Rhoads is not using that mod in this picture. AH that is in the sig amp you plug into the top right to access the cascading effect.
The Dutchman's awesome picture, four JMP's, I'm not even sure that all are JMP 1959s? same deal I would guess with plug in but we can only see the far head plugged into. I do not know if I am seeing this right, can someone please tell me, are the standby lights on the other two heads on?
