Randy Rhoads DIGITECH WAH production idea scrubbed 2006...

Post by AlienSatch »

Digitech was wanting to produce a DIGITECH Randy Rhoads Wah pedal.

The prototype WAH pedal is all polka dotted with Randy's signature on the side. EXTREMELY COOL lookin, but will never be produced.

Ms Rhoads didn't think the pedal sounded close enough to Randy's sound.

The prototype artwork consisted of a cut out standee of Randy jammin about 1 ft. tall. Randy wearing early Blizzard attire. Polka dotted vest with the Les Paul.

I wonder what the pedal sounds like ? ... LOL ...

I'd guess it would sound like a a guitar and a tubeamp,
with a little fuzz, distortion and wah in between :D

A wah pedal? I would have thought a distortion pedal with Randy's name would have been a better idea. A lot of Randy fans try out the new MXR distortion pedals but complain saying they aren't anything like Randy, surely if they made a pedal closer to his distorted sound it would make more sense. To me Wah wasn't really a big part of Randy's sound.

Sorry no pics. I'm just relaying what I saw.

Kinda funny, it would be kinda weird to base Randy's total sound on just a wah pedal anyways ? ... No wonder it didn't sound like him.

Randy had a complete network of pedals, his board was huge ! ...

Also, I would have bought it too even if I dont play with a wah. The thing looks awesome...

well he didn't exactly use it in a traditional sense.
he used more as a booster ala Michael Schenker :)

Thats too bad, however I'd rather see Dunlop take up the project, since he played a Crybaby..

Same here, but like someone else said, why a wah? Theres only a handful of songs you could use it on, and its mostly just for fills. You'd think a Randy Rhoads signature mxr + would make more sense.

Definately, A distortion + with Randy's name on would be a better idea. More Randy fans buy one of them because Randy used one than the Crybaby because he did. People are also always complaining that it sounds nothing like him, they could make one that sounded closer. They would probably make it polka-dot as well which would be pretty cool.

Yeah, I totaly agree :? I don't think that a Wah pedal would be a great idea, much rather some distortion pedal :)

Also forgot to mention...The only way to get the tone for this pedal to sound like Randy would be to put the guitar in his hands and let him work his magic.

I'm sure Randy would sound like Randy using even a signature empty can of cheese curls for an amp and using a dead rat for a wah...

Now I've gone and made myself hungry... :( ... for cheese curls that is...not dead rats.
