If you go to RR.us their banner uses the Polka Dot V exclusively.



If you go to RR.tk their banner uses the Polka Dot V, Classical guitar and Gibson (not shown but implied).



A banner is more than a cool image to look at. It is a story. It tells you not only who the web site is dedicated to but their personality as well. If we want to show the most complete side to Randy we (all members) should do our best to represent that with this site. If there is a limit to what can be included in the banner then there should be an attempt to be as inclusive as possible. Personally, I would like to have 5 guitars represented.

1) Gibson = Randy's Quiet Riot Days and symbolizes his teaching tool.
2) Polka Dot V = Randy's transition from QR to Ozzy's BOO days (uses Polka Dots in the finish).
3) White Jackson (which I have just been told in a PM is incorrectly called the Concorde) = Randy's original design and symbolizes style and grace.
4) Black Jackson (the real Concorde) = Randy's final days with Ozzy
5) Classical guitar = Randy's fundamental passion and true calling.

What I am hoping for is a banner that will go beyond the usual fanfare of focusing on one dimension of Randy's playing and bring a more complete view of his personality. I invite all members to have a say in what the final banner should say about Randy's life.

IMHO i think it looks awesome the way it is... the centre pic has a heavenly ora glow about it and it is very fitting because of Randy's death. The other pics are Cool and the Jay Banbury photo on the right is one of the best. The style of the banner is cool and we did have a very dull banner before this one. But i would leave it as it is. Why fix something if it ain't broken... I understand what you are saying Dave but i think alot of people are very happy with the way this one turned out. Plus the size and space of the banner is an issue.

It would certainly be nice to fit the Concorde on there, but it would be at the cost of artistic balance (i.e. always using an odd multiple), plus the reduction of the pictures scale/text or removal of the RR insignia I suppose.

The only other options would be to "grey" it out and use it as a background to the existing banner, but it may then got too cluttered; or place it as a symbol to the left/right (before/after) of the RR logos.

I think it's great as it is, but that's just my 2c worth.

I've gotten a few PRO-Concorde posts but everyone seems to be in agreement about the kickassness of the banner. It stands on its own and I must agree. Great job my friend...

I think a pic with the white concorde a bit in center of the banner wouldn't look that bad! Now I watch it for a few days, and although it looks great!, something is lacking though.

Personally, I think the banner is fine how it is. I wouldn't mind if there were changes to it but I think most people like the current banner because of its classy look. But hey, if you make something better than the current one, go for it
